Boehner Tells House G.O.P. to Fall in Line
NYT ^ | 11-10-12 | JONATHAN WEISMAN and JENNIFER STEINHAUER

WASHINGTON — On a conference call with House Republicans a day after the party’s electoral battering last week, Speaker John A. Boehner dished out some bitter medicine, and for the first time in the 112th Congress, most members took their dose.

Their party lost, badly, Mr. Boehner said, and while Republicans would still control the House and would continue to staunchly oppose tax rate increases as Congress grapples with the impending fiscal battle, they had to avoid the nasty showdowns that marked so much of the last two years.

Members on the call, subdued and dark, murmured words of support — even a few who had been a thorn in the speaker’s side for much of this Congress.

It was a striking contrast to a similar call last year, when Mr. Boehner tried to persuade members to compromise with Democrats on a deal to extend a temporary cut in payroll taxes, only to have them loudly revolt.

Looks like it's time to look at the list of RINOs coming up for re-election in 2 years and find conservatives to primary them. And if that don't work, switch to third party and run against them.

Sometimes the threat is enough to get the GOPe to "fall in line" but these will not be empty threats. We need to prepare for the 2014 election now.

A few million telephone calls, 53 million, to the gutless Speaker should begin tomorrow at:

202-224-3121

Give him your thoughts and then call the rest of the eunuchs and demand that we get a new Speaker, one that has spine, guts, and a pair of nads. Requirements are an American with gonads and one that doesn’t drink 24/7.

The house GOP should tell Boehner to shove himself up his smelly RINO Obama and go outside and die.

Soon.

Now.

As usual people here do not seem to have a clue. Here's what will happen if "angry House leader" confronts Obama:

1. Obama gets in front of the media and says Angry House Leader and a handful of radicals want to shut down the economy.
2. Obama works up a bill with Reid with everything he wants
3. Obama negotiates a little and gives up a triviality or two
4. Obama musters the media and ramrods the bill using the RINO vote.

This is what happened with TARP. It is one of the main reasons we lost the election in 2008.

The result people here want. crash the economy over opposition to Obamacare, is not going to happen. We will simply get steamrolled. But following a more rational approach that will not happen and we will get to cliff so that the D-Senate will come and beg for a deal. They will get a lot more outside pressure than the House because their donors are bigger.

I agree. The article NEVER quotes Boehner. In fact, the article has very few quotes and a lot of spin about what they said, and paraphrasing. The whole thing could be a total misrepresentation.

Look, Boehner may well be just as feckless as the Times says he is, but I’m not going to believe it simply because the Times says so. They want us to form a circular firing squad. That’s why they put the article out.

Boehner is an easy target, and I don’t like him or trust him. Having said that, my distrust and dislike for the NYT is even deeper than it is for Boehner.

Would it be possible to start a grassroots campaign to replace Bonehead with someone like Paul Ryan?

One of the big jokes about Obama’s tax the ‘rich’ argument is that even if you did tax the ‘rich’ it would basically have no effect on the deficit. It would simply drop from 1.2 trillion a year to 1.1 trillion a year...essentially no change.

Still the tax the ‘rich’ argument was powerful red meat for the Dems because they honestly believe that solves all of our problems. Their favorite shows are Honey Boo-Boo and Aerican Idol, afterall. We’e not talking about wizards, here. Still, This simply has to be acknowledged as a poilitical reality.

The question before us is how to handle this vacuous proposal in a politically tennable way. In other words, it’s politics baby!! I sort of like the approach of agreeing to remove tax loopholes rather than raising taxes. In the end, I suppose it’s the same thing but, at least we get the fig leaf of not raising taxes and therefore holding firm to our principals.

In the end, the vacuous approach by Obama will be shown to have zero effect on the deficit should he accept it but, here’s the rub. In my opinion, Obama will not accept it. His goal has always been to raise taxes on everyone by allowing all Bush Tax cuts to fade away and then politically placing the blame on the ‘radical’ republicans for not moving his way on taxing the rich. Let’s face it, Obamacare, free phones, and crony capitalism needs to funded and Obama needs the midddle class money whether he admits it or not. He’s playing a game and so are we (whether we want to admit it or not), so we better play it right.

This is why it’s so important that we offer up ‘tax loophole’ reform and not tax rate increases. It gives us our figleaf without compromising our principles. If Obama rejects it, it’s on him politically. If he accepts it, nothing will improve and it’s still on him. It’s politics.

No one will contest him for the Speakership. Whenever he is up for re-election he has to be primaried. We must not allow any of the lockstep GOP RINOS to go uncontested in their bids for re-election.
