Hours after election, White House supports U.N.ís global ban on Guns (Glenn Beck)
Glenn Beck ^ | 11/8/12 | Glenn Beck

Posted on 11/08/2012 1:58:18 PM PST by Nachum

Just a few hours after being re-elected, President Obama encouraged the United States to support new United Nations discussions on a global treaty regulating guns and the gun industry. Supporters of the treaty believe the talks collapsed in July due to the campaign and Obama’s fears that Romney could use it against him. Now that the President has four more years in office, the White House is ready for the discussions to begin again.

“While everybody is saying, you know he’s going to compromise. He’s going to get together with the Democrats and the Republicans, he’s going to reach across — the very next morning he was pushing a global ban on guns,” Glenn said.

The Blaze reported that a Washington official said, ““We seek a treaty that contributes to international security by fighting illicit arms trafficking and proliferation, protects the sovereign right of states to conduct legitimate arms trade, and meets the concerns that we have been articulating throughout.”

This definitely will be the crisis. Abe will explain from "the other side."

You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

Obama is a biological-ideological issue of the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats.

When they come to take your guns, give them your ammo 1st at 1500 ft./sec.

Yesterday the DOW was -330. So far today it has dropped another -121.

I might not be long before you’re going to need every gun you have.

Doubt they’d get 66 Senators to go along with this.

In fact IIRC, didn’t a bunch of Senators write a letter to nobama and/or Hitlery this past summer saying forget it?

doesn’t matter - he has the Senate more or less and will have the supremes once the two soon-to-be-retirees are replaced.

get them while you can and make sure you can hide them from the batfe.

if you know anyone who stayed home or who voted for various losertarian candidates be sure to thank them.

They don’t need 66. They actually only need 34.

They don’t need 66 senators.

They need two-thirds of “those present”.

All Dingy Harry needs to do is call a meeting of 51 Democrat senators, convene a “Senate session” with his minimal quorum, and get 34 to vote to ratify.

Yes. Contemptible is a nicer word than I would have chosen, but
we also have our states-—hound your reps.
I am going to try and mentally disengage from 0bomerika and focus on politics in my own state. I’m about to give up on federal politics. Does anyone think we are ever going to win another presidential election? The Takers gave power to Evil.
They are going to crash and burn and the less engaged we are, the better off we will fare.
Buy what you can now.
And affect the changes that you want locally.

Why buy them if you’re just going to hide them? Why not save the money? You’re surely not going to use them once everyone else who could help you have been subjugated. Just wondering because I see people make those comments frequently and I simply don’t get them.

If we use even larger font will Obama ignore it less? Nope.

Treaties supersede the constitution, regardless of font size. That is why he is doing it this way. Get ready, here it comes.

I’m really not certain a civil war can happen. We have way too much layers of law enforcement from Fed to local; however, some form of peaceful(violent if necessary) secession needs to be seriously discussed and pursued once all the details are finalized.

As statutes may be held void because they contravene the Constitution, it should follow that treaties may be held void,
the Constitution being superior to both. And indeed the Court has numerous times so stated.

Thanks, Nachum
This is much ado about nothing.
This UN arms agreement is a treaty, and as such, must be ratified by 2/3 of the Senate to pass. The Constitution clearly states that.
Clinton tried the same crap with the Kyoto agreement, which is really a treaty. Clinton signed it but the Senate wouldn’t ratify so it is null and void.

I am not sure I agree. This is part of a larger playbook. Team Obama is planning on doing much much more.

They will roll out an entire playbook to attack gun rights. The fun is only starting. :(

Understood, and thanks. I was not aware of that.

But let us be realistic: if the proposed treaty is challenged because of a presumed conflict with the constitution who decides on what is the "law of the land"? (now... where have I heard that phrase recently?)
