Hey Boehner - you can confiscate all the money of the richest people in the US and it would not put a dent in the deficit. Stand up and state “NO MORE TAXES.” ONLY CUTS.

What an idiot.

If Boehner and any other Republicans don't want to be the next Richard Lugar in the 2014 primary, they better be pivoting right back and fast...

John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Wednesday signaled a willingness to accept higher tax revenues as part of a deficit cutting deal.

Instead of The Weeper of the House Boehner, let's suggest that the Republicans get a Speaker with a little backbone like Paul Ryan. He understands the fiscal problems and instead of just bending over for Bathhouse Barry Benghazi, maybe he can extract something.

So, the GOP-E wants us to compromise our basic moral values to vote for Mitt so men like Boehner can have power?

Where’s the benefit?

with Boehner calling for a “down payment” that would lead to a farther-reaching pact in 2013 ...

Translation:

We will gladly accept higher taxes today with your promise to cut spending tomorrow.

That is how we got into this mess.

What is this guy's office number or whatever line you call? I think he needs a little "pep talk" from every single FReeper!

And who can we call in the GOP to advise them to pick a new damn speaker already.

This may have been mentioned before...

The GOP is damaged goods and sometimes things have to be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch. I think the GOP might be in that situation.

Wonder if we could kick off a grass roots campaign to call our GOP reps and simply tell them that if Boehner compromises to the point that it jeopardizes our core conservative principles, then we make a vow to never vote for another GOP candidate again. Of course they won’t initially believe us, but if enough calls go in, and if the tea party (as an example) movement helps magnify this approach, they may think twice.

If not, then we send a very clear message in 2014 by sitting it out. Hope it wouldn’t come to that, but if you threaten, you need to be willing to carry forward.

Thoughts? Is this completely crazy?

We just have to figure a way to pressure our reps into taking a principled stand and telling Harry Reid to stuff it.

The government takes in more than enough money to cover its Constitutionally mandated functions and duties. The problem is not revenue, the problem is overspending. A willingness to raise taxes to bring down the deficit/debt will be seen by lawmakers as a further license to overspend. Why doesn’t Boehner understand this?

Friend, I would tell Speaker Boehner to stand on the steps of the US Capitol and tell the press he is going to give obama everything the president asked for

Only condition being that the president man-up and own the results

The hollywood-honey boo boo crowd voted for this garrulous inept affirmative action clown to run the economy, so they deserve to see it in action

then watch the democrats scuttle out of the shadows to try to stop the damage they know will result

Bring it on

“I’m not for kicking the can down the road; I think we’ve done that far too much,” Reid told reporters in the Capitol. “I think we should just roll up our sleeves and get it done.”

Did the "journalist" at the Hill note that Harry Reid hasn't passed a single budget for 3 years? Probably not.

The remarks I read from Boehner seemed to ME to merely signal a willingness to work with Obama--exchanging taxes for cuts in entitlements...which is what Boehner offered the last time we faced this crisis, and Obama passed.

After what we've gone through this election season, I will look at EVERYTHING the "media" says about the Republicans as suspect...because the "media" refused adamantly to hold Obama/Reid/Pelosi's feet to the fire during this election season.

Not once have I seen a media outlet (except for one brief interview on SPANISH LANGUAGE TV) challenge Obama.

Oh like WOW! Who could have predicted that the RINOs would fold? The Rats smell blood in the water here, don’t expect them to give an inch. It will be all tax increases on the wealthy (those making over $50,000 a year) and spending cuts only in the military budget. Everything else will be full speed ahead, which reminds me ... I need to get one o them Obama-phones.

This is nothing new. Pubbies have always said that they were willing to get more revenue - through tax reform and increasing jobs.

They have stated that they would lower the rate and broaden the base through closing loopholes.

Obama wants to raise the rates on upper income and ignore the rest which is a job - killing way to do it per Pubbies.
Wealthy people like Buffet won't pay anymore tax, but the small business owner will.

Boehner has always been a wimp with a nice tan.

He's been practically invisible lately and when he does pop up, its to offer Obama tax hikes in exchange for Democrat promises of spending cuts. We all know how that works out. Tax hikes on everyone - not just 'the rich' - and miniscule cuts - if any - in projected budget item increases, making them useless. No thanks, John. We desperately need a new Speaker. One with a spine instead of a tan.
