Anybody feeling a sense of regret among Obama voters

Posted on 11/07/2012 6:14:47 PM PST by BelleAl

I spent a great time talking to my sweet, but sometimes clueless daughters about the impact of this election. They tend to see themselves as more progressive - pro gay marriage, global warming, etc... (before you guys flame away, please know I did my best -- this is college academic influence on them). The sense I get from them and from my conversations today with friends and acquaintances, is that there seems to be a overwhelming atmosphere of regret or to be more graphic and explicit...an oh s__t, what did we just do attitude.

I don't see an in-your-face hurrah jubilation like 4 years ago (except among the DBM)...just a quiet, somber reaction. I wonder if you guys are sensing that and if so, is it registering in Washington? The dynamics are definitely different this time around and I hope it is seen as unsettling to those in power. I'm feeling an edge, a vibe of unrest, uncertainty.

“Belle, I am sorry about your daughters. Hopefully your teaching kicks in while there is still time.”

Luckily, they still listen to their old mom.... and at least the older..she seems to be getting it. I can always hope.

Yes. A couple of white middle-class guys I work with were suddenly concerned about Obamacare.

#1 “Why don’t they take another look at it,” the one imbecile says. “You’d think they would since no one wants it.”

me screaming: “THAT’S WHAT THE DAMN ELECTION WAS ABOUT!”

Second dude: “What’s so bad about him, what could happen?”

me screaming: “WE’RE ON A FISCAL CLIFF, BANKRUPT WITH THE BIGGEST TAX & SPEND PRESIDENT & SENATE IN HISTORY! NETANYAHU IS ALONE NOW, HE’LL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO ATTACK IRAN BECAUSE IF HE DOESN’T, IRAN WILL FIRE NUKES AT HIM!”

But I could see #2 was getting upset so I said, “I don’t want to upset you, go on.”

#1 “Too late.”

I think they were truly terrified by the facts I have been endlessly spouting for months. So explain it to me cause I’m at a loss.

>> I was sick and tired of seeing them post message after message about how they love abortion and how Romney is going to take away their “Right to kill their baby.

That seemed to be 90% of the celebration I saw and read, not so much for Zero.

It’s interesting that you say you couldn’t look anyone in the eye today — that is what I saw at the stores today. Heads down like everyone was avoiding looking each other in the eye.

Marked difference from 2008 when people were jubilant in my area.

“After 24 hours?????”

Yes. My youngest — my hope — who proudly voted for Romney in her first election said many of her high school friends - one a muslim and another an African American were upset with the outcome. 4 years ago, her classmates were wearing Obama t-shirts and chanting O bah ma throughout the halls. It was even sanctioned one day for Black History Month — I kept her home “sick’ that day.

I only wish they had won the House as well.

Let them take 100% responsibility for the giant cluster F that is about to occur.

Instead, to the vast majority of morons out there, it will be Bush and Boehner’s fault (again) when our economy is performing at a worse rate than Cambodia’s.

I don’t see that yet, but I do think it will set in after a few weeks or months. When it does it will be too damn late.

“So explain it to me cause I’m at a loss.”

I can’t explain it. It’s just an observation. An eery quiet — my obnoxious liberal cousins are not saying a word on Facebook. It’s almost as though they realize that a hand has been overplayed and it’s too late to go back.

I don’t have any sympathy for anyone who voted for Zero and finds himself in dire straits in the future.

I haven’t seen any Democrapweasels walking on eggshells. They are THROWING eggs in the social media.

They won and they are still dropping the F bombs on Romney/Ryan and Republicans.

Doesn’t sound like they are happy. Sounds like they are demented and misery loves company.

I was in northern CT/Western MA today. It was very quiet. Not many people seemed excited for a Obama win. I overheard two people taking to each other normally then they mentioned the election. They started to get close and whisper, luckily overhead most of it and they both said the voted Obama.

I saw a one middle aged black women whit a “historic moment” sweatshirt with Obama’s face on it.

I don’t know about regret, but they are certainly not yelling an screaming and in you face like the were in 08, when I heard one fine black female scream “wes finally elected a N*&^%r!”

I don't know anyone either. My 2 daughters and my sister who never votes all voted this year. They each called me today to see how I was doing I told them it has been a rough day plus my dog is really sick. I will not be friends with a liberal ever unless they keep it to themselves.

People think that the system will protect them from everything.

The truth is that the system keeps us all from being able to protect ourselves from THEM, the most predatory animal in the world.

Because it’s not about Obama..look at the black community..what the hell has Obama done for the black community..absolutely NOTHING..unemployment amongst blacks is the highest in the nation yet they support Obama overwhelmingly..because why..I have no idea..maybe they think they will get reparations..but I think its because they will continue getting freebies from the Govt..more Govt goodies means more Obama votes

My brother and I work for a large corporation and he joked on Tuesday that he was in his own little Obama commercial. Four Obamatrons were sitting around talking and he was on a call with one of their clients. We both expect this fortune 100 company to drop all health insurance - probably next year since this year's benefit choices have already filed through. And I guarantee which ones in the office will be whining the most. And I will politely remind them what they have wrought.
