Yesterday Mitt Romney turned a previously scheduled campaign event in Ohio into a hurricane relief event. Romney asked supporters to bring canned goods and other supplies to help storm victims recover on the East Coast. He only spoke for ten minutes at the event and quickly jumped in to help load supplies. His campaign bus has been accepting hurricane relief donations since Monday in Northern Virginia. Sounds like a great idea right? Not according to MSNBC.
Reporters and anchors at the far-left TV outlet were appalled at Romney's efforts to give back to the community, after all, his charity and generosity doesn't fit with their "Romney is an evil rich guy who doesn't care about regular people" narrative.

Are these people sick? And yes you heard them correctly, they are actually criticizing Romney for trying to help people.
With all due respect to the Red Cross, they do amazing work, but they are also a large bureaucracy set up like the federal government. Andrea Mitchell made the point in the first video that Romney was collecting things "the Red Cross doesn't need" and that the Red Cross wants blood and money (which by the way, people like Mitt Romney are capable of donating large sums of money to organizations like the Red Cross because they are personally wealthy, something MSNBC has continually demonized).

“Oh, are they the only charity working there? Romney could create his own instant charity network if he wanted to. Talk about buying votes.”
I would wager that the Mormon Church already has an amazing network set up for this type of situation. I may not agree with the tenents of their religion, but I do know that they believe deeply in preparedness and charitable help!
That’s the whole thing in a nutshell.
You have God’s way of doing things,
and you have the world’s (humanist) way of doing things.
The two are in conflict and are irreconcilable.
You’ll hear leftists utter things like
“private charitable giving interferes with the duty of government”.
So, you seem to be saying Romney was fully aware of the needs of the Red Cross but deliberately ignored them in order to make political points. That would also logically mean that he was hoping no one else was aware of the Red Cross’s “no canned goods” policy which would make him both dumb and evil at the same time.
It might also, however, be possible that he had some plan to get the donated goods where they are needed using the considerable resources at his disposal.
Give to a more worthy charity the Salvation Army.

A Korean War Vet told me that when the Red Cross passed out coffee and donuts over there in the cold and horrible conditions, the NCO’s were lucky to get coffee, the commissioned officers got the donuts.
I used to volunteer for the Red Cross, and was awarded a fine pin to ‘wear on my lapel’. I threw the pin away and find other organizations to give to.
You keep missing the point, DS. The Red Cross isn’t the only organization that distributes aid. It’s only been repeated a dozen times to you.
I have very little respect or use for the Red Cross. As mentioned above,it is composed of too many HIGH-PAID administrators living well off the good intentions of the ordinary people who donate.A number of people in my area were very upset about the Red Cross following tornados.
I DON’T donate to either the Red Cross or United Way.
And a word of warning:the marketing/solicitation experts have infiltrated every charitable organization. If you donate by traceable means.that is,by check or credit card, they will thn spend money mailing you requests for more money.Even the Salvation Army did that to my irritation.
I f you want to give, give anonymously as I do now by dropping cash into the red kettle;or give to/through your local church.
Another reason I dislike the Red Cross and similar groups is their “political correctness”.
Here is a great article on the Red Cross after Katrina.

That was not an insult. It was a fact. He is a politician, si? A politician is a pander bear every time. Sorry.
Thank god you're here.
It looks like the LDS organization works with several charities and has specific action plans for natural disaster assistance. They have sent people to help the Red Cross and are working with other charities.

“We need to spin spin spin this against the MSM by saying that the MSM hates the hurricane victims.
Say that the MSM does not want hurricane victims helped by telling people to stop giving donations.”
BRILLIANT, American Constitutionalist! LOL!
DS, I’ve tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, and yes politicians are generally a-holes yadda yadda yadda, but enough is enough. Just give your money to the Red Cross, but don’t criticize people who choose other organizations and other means.
You’re wrong. I can’t find any news source that says the items collected by Romney were specifically going to the Red Cross.
In fact, at the event Romney asked supporters to text a donation to the Red Cross.... just as the Red Cross asked.

Romneys event in Kettering, Ohio was billed as a storm relief event and attendees were asked to bring non-perishable foods and other items for left in need by the storm.
People left blankets, deodorants, tinned food, torches, batteries, toothbrushes and nappies on long tables and messages on two large television screens asked people to text the American Red Cross to make donations.

So....that proves you are ‘right’? LOL!
You need to go to “Mother Jones’ to do your commentary. Everyone there would bestow you with love and kisses. Cheers, gal!
I bet if you told Romney he'd listen and stop all that pandering you say he's doing. Thanks for your support. /s
They were also collecting money, to go to the Red Cross.
And Who said that the canned goods, water, clothes and food
were going to just the Red Cross. There are other charitable
organizations that help out with this type of incident.
Matthew 25 ministries come to mind. They gladly accept all
donations.
Mike
“They have no one to sort them..no place to store them and no way to transport them to the flooded areas.”
Right. The Red Cross is asking for $$ donations so they can purchase food, water, and other supplies and then sort, store, and transport to the victims.
Got it.
I do not blabber. I made a statement. It is your comprehension that is in question. A “real” conservative? LMAO. Now That is funny!!! Your statement is just silly..nonsense.
Sweetie, I wouldn’t go near Mother Jones with a ten foot pole and I didn’t do “commentary” now, did I? I posted an article.
Romney is getting the expected leftist criticism for staging an event. Of course Obama never stages anything. It is all just spontaneous and the crowds adore him. Well, not so much any more.
Why must you be so critical? I thought we were all in this together. Just a few more days...stop seeing boogey-men everywhere.
I shared my experience with vets I knew from WWII and Korea, they had similar experiences to your uncles.
The crass, snarky attitudes from the leftards toward those who actually move goods and people to help others are mind-boggling. Those turds at MSNBC wouldn’t know a good deed if it landed on their pointy little heads.
defending Axelrod on another thread and calling him funny and attacking Romney for trying to collect supplies for storm victims saying he’s pandering is blabber to me. Liberal blabber.
Now kick rocks.
Yes, the obvious reason that Red Cross has a hard tim taking a skim off the top of canned goods.
Red Cross is NOT a worthy charity. Salvation Army does more with less.
For the record....my comments about Romney were not digs. I have made NO secret of the fact I am not voting for Romney under any circumstances. I have always been upfront about that though I owe you no explanation. Honesty does not a troll make.
Absolutely.
I was 200 miles north in Mississippi when Katrina hit. We had a lot of damage. And the motels were full of people who evacuated from the storms path. Guess who was there in the parking lots with their canteens feeding these people? The Salvation Army! No electricity for a week or more so there were no restaurants open. The Churches in town also opened their doors, quit a few have kitchens and provided cooked meals. The Red Cross was useless in this situation. People were needing Food and clothes which the Red Cross was refusing as a donation. I would donate Blood to them but never money!
Ya...supplies will just rain from the sky when Obama waives his wand.
Obama has ways to store, sort, and transport, unavailable to Romney..../sarc
I did not miss the point. The story was that Romney was doing this for the Red Cross....I do not have a dog in this fight. I am going to go pound my head on asphalt. I try to have a conversation and someone else decides to make it an argument.
Personal wealth is eeeeeevil -- though he has earned it. Government wealth is goooooood -- though they have confiscated it.
The human mind is endlessly flexible.
They need help in lower Manhattan if this blog is correct.

I have given to this disaster relief through my church and the salvation army. I choose not to give to Red Cross. And thank you for your kindness in trying to give me the benefit of the doubt. It is more than most here. I mean that sincerely. Not snarky. Truly, Smedley.
Better that the Red Cross hands out those $2000 Taxpayer Funded Debit Cards like FEMA did after Katrina.
After the cleanup, the Casinos and Strip Joints will need the Business.
You are wise and articulate, as always, ilovesarah.
MNBC BREAKING NEWS:
PRESIDENT OBAMA DOES HIS JOB AS PRESIDENT, LOOKS PRESIDENTIAL
Many soldiers have had bad experiences with the Red Cross.
No he wasn't. I proved you wrong in prior post. Why do you choose to remain ignorant?
LOL - not really either, but I appreciate it.
And I always enjoy your posts, DallasSun.
DallasSun said s/he/it wasn't a guy. Now you're being insensitive to the transgendered, transpecies, neutered, and other gendered (OG).
For instance, DallasSun could be an intelligent dolphin.
...or at least a dolphin.
I did not defend anyone. I did not “attack” Romney. You sound like the typical school yard bully with no substance or depth to your argument so you just sling your insults as though they are cognizant thoughts. No one ever accused You of being articulate, did they. Now....go sling your spittle and insults on someone else. They are boring. The term...vapid..comes to mind. Usually only Mika makes me think of that term.
So let me get this straight...
Red Cross cannot accept canned goods, or sort them or transport them or distribute them to the people who are hungry in the storm’s wake?
Sounds to me like Red Cross should GTF out of the way and let the people who want to help and know how to work get the job done.
You are absolutely correct. I second that.
Thank goodness for people like you. You and so many like you will earn a jewel in your crown. Bless you.
