MSNBC: Nobody Needs Your Hurricane Donations Mitt Romney
Townhall ^ | 10/31/2012 | Katie Pavlich

Yesterday Mitt Romney turned a previously scheduled campaign event in Ohio into a hurricane relief event. Romney asked supporters to bring canned goods and other supplies to help storm victims recover on the East Coast. He only spoke for ten minutes at the event and quickly jumped in to help load supplies. His campaign bus has been accepting hurricane relief donations since Monday in Northern Virginia. Sounds like a great idea right? Not according to MSNBC.

Reporters and anchors at the far-left TV outlet were appalled at Romney's efforts to give back to the community, after all, his charity and generosity doesn't fit with their "Romney is an evil rich guy who doesn't care about regular people" narrative.

Are these people sick? And yes you heard them correctly, they are actually criticizing Romney for trying to help people.

With all due respect to the Red Cross, they do amazing work, but they are also a large bureaucracy set up like the federal government. Andrea Mitchell made the point in the first video that Romney was collecting things "the Red Cross doesn't need" and that the Red Cross wants blood and money (which by the way, people like Mitt Romney are capable of donating large sums of money to organizations like the Red Cross because they are personally wealthy, something MSNBC has continually demonized).

I was 200 miles north in Mississippi when Katrina hit. We had a lot of damage. And the motels were full of people who evacuated from the storms path. Guess who was there in the parking lots with their canteens feeding these people? The Salvation Army! No electricity for a week or more so there were no restaurants open. The Churches in town also opened their doors, quit a few have kitchens and provided cooked meals. The Red Cross was useless in this situation. People were needing Food and clothes which the Red Cross was refusing as a donation. I would donate Blood to them but never money!

Ya...supplies will just rain from the sky when Obama waives his wand.

Obama has ways to store, sort, and transport, unavailable to Romney..../sarc

I did not miss the point. The story was that Romney was doing this for the Red Cross....I do not have a dog in this fight. I am going to go pound my head on asphalt. I try to have a conversation and someone else decides to make it an argument.

When you're a socialist, any action coming from wealth is evil by definition, unless it's the government.

Personal wealth is eeeeeevil -- though he has earned it. Government wealth is goooooood -- though they have confiscated it.

The human mind is endlessly flexible.

I have given to this disaster relief through my church and the salvation army. I choose not to give to Red Cross. And thank you for your kindness in trying to give me the benefit of the doubt. It is more than most here. I mean that sincerely. Not snarky. Truly, Smedley.

Better that the Red Cross hands out those $2000 Taxpayer Funded Debit Cards like FEMA did after Katrina.

After the cleanup, the Casinos and Strip Joints will need the Business.

Many soldiers have had bad experiences with the Red Cross.

No he wasn't. I proved you wrong in prior post. Why do you choose to remain ignorant?

Cheers, gal!

DallasSun said s/he/it wasn't a guy. Now you're being insensitive to the transgendered, transpecies, neutered, and other gendered (OG).

For instance, DallasSun could be an intelligent dolphin.

I did not defend anyone. I did not “attack” Romney. You sound like the typical school yard bully with no substance or depth to your argument so you just sling your insults as though they are cognizant thoughts. No one ever accused You of being articulate, did they. Now....go sling your spittle and insults on someone else. They are boring. The term...vapid..comes to mind. Usually only Mika makes me think of that term.

So let me get this straight...
Red Cross cannot accept canned goods, or sort them or transport them or distribute them to the people who are hungry in the storm’s wake?

Sounds to me like Red Cross should GTF out of the way and let the people who want to help and know how to work get the job done.

We got hit in Virgina Beach several years ago by a hurricane which knocked out power for several days. Lots of folks from west of our position loaded up trucks with all kinds of things we needed by the third day. There was no fighting, no bickering and no problems. We lined up, they opened the doors to the trucks and they started giving out baskets full of canned goods, water and baby wipes. It was a beautiful thing. No way we could have gotten anything from the Red Cross in such a way. I sincerely appreciaited what those folks did for us.
