New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg told residents at a Tuesday night briefing that he asked President Obama not to visit the storm-stricken city to view the devastation caused by Sandy.
"We'd love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do," Bloomberg said, adding that the president's planned trip to New Jersey Wednesday is "fine."

I wonder how this will affect the real estate markets. The banks are holding lots of foreclosed homes off the market, but for the ones that were damaged or destroyed by Sandy, they would be able to write them off at their full values rather than the current market value. Then there are the damaged houses. People can take a check from the insurance company and buy a currently vacant house rather than building a new one.

Bloomberg FINALLY did something that makes sense.
Makes sense for the campaign. No need for the president to visit a state he already owns. He needs to be in Nevada and Colorado and Ohio. To hell with the storm victims

Knowing how Obama does business, I have the feeling that Obama finished his phone call last night by saying, “the money will be there, just be very sure to mention how I benefited your state, it is an election year and I could use New Jersey electoral votes.”
