A poster at Twitter with the handle @FreeBenghazi, who says she is not currently in Libya, has posted a series of tweets on a reported popular uprising tonight in Benghazi against Islamist militias.

The initial tweet, posted at 5:07 p.m. EDT, was accompanied with a screen grab of an Arab language news broadcast:

BREAKING "People of Benghazi have taken over headquarters of Ansar al-Shariyah & handed it over to army" #Libya pic.twitter.com/Pxnql4bO

She then tweeted another report with a screen grab showing a large group of men entering a building courtyard:

Benghazi youth have taken over Ansar Shariyah base & waiting for #Libya army to receive control of it. pic.twitter.com/8pNc7Ihz

She folllowed with a report from friends in Benghazi:

Friends in Benghazi are hearing loud explosions, they say it's Benghazi youth clashing with Ansar Al-shariyah #Libya

Her latest tweet says:

Benghazi youth have also stormed headquarters of other brigades : Draah Libya, Ahrar Libya, Raff Allah Alshata. #Libya #Revolution3.0

Forgive me for being more than a little suspicious but these popular uprisings in the mideast seem to be a front for something else more often than not.

Give them a few years then trust but verify.

It’s good to know the CIA can still do some things right...

Reuters just added this:

“Hundreds of pro-government protesters stormed the headquarters of the main Islamist militia group in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi on Friday, Reuters witnesses said.

Chanting “Libya, Libya”, the demonstrators pulled down flags of the Ansar Al-Sharia militia and torched a vehicle inside the base. There was no sign of resistance from the militia.”

It sounds like the Salafists have withdrawn.

If there’s one thing that’s been remarkably consistent in accounts of the “natives” from both Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, it has been that nowhere in the Islamic world will the locals stand up to thugs. Other thugs might stand up to thugs, but there’s no group of well intentioned people who will say “You know, those thugs from the (insert name of terrorist group here) are a bunch of a-holes. They’re not from around here. The next time they come into town to intimidate us and take our children for their wars, let’s just kill them.”

The vets would relate situations where a village of 100 to 150 people could be completely controlled by one or two clowns from the Taliban. And yet, every household in the village has at least one AK-47.

I think folks who are cheering this are going to get burned....again. A little research of the Benghazi youth goes a long way.

That’s what happened in the Anbar Province uprising in late 2006-2007. The local tribes got fed up with the foreigners and switched alliance to the U.S. and Iraqi gov’t.

In other words, the CIA gave some local Mullahs some “walking around money.”

My guess is that the leaders of these “youth” were either trained at Hereford or Fort Bragg.

Actually all the interconnected youth movement groups are hard left groups funded by people like Soros, the UN etc.

This won’t turn out the way people think it will.

Meanwhile, our President apologizes to the Islamists. It is a sad day when Libyans have to do our fighting for us.

More civil war in Lybia.

The people who want some measure of freedom have discovered that their “hereo victors” over Ghadaffi are as bad if not worse than he was.

I expect the militias will fight and unless help is forthcoming, they will crush the citizens who have very few arms...and even fewer heavy weapons. Remember all of those weapons of Ghadaffis that went missing? well...we’re probably about to see who got them.

Obama’s policies are an abject failure, embarassement...and have proven tragic and deadly to Americans and American interests.

Intro to lengthy AP article:

BENGHAZI, Libya (AP) — Hundreds of protesters stormed the compound of one of Libya's strongest armed Islamic extremist groups Friday, evicting militiamen and setting fire to their building as the attack that killed the U.S. ambassador and four other Americans sparked a public backlash against armed groups that run rampant in the country and defy the country's new, post-Moammar Gadhafi leadership.

Armed men at the administrative center for the Ansar al-Shariah militia, suspected to have led the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Benghazi consulate, first fired in the air to disperse the crowd, but eventually withdrew from the site with their weapons and vehicles after it was surrounded by waves of protesters shouting "No to militias."

"I don't want to see armed men wearing Afghani-style clothes stopping me in the street to give me orders, I only want to see people in uniform," said Omar Mohammed, a university student who took part in the takeover, which protesters said was done in support of the army and police.

No deaths were reported in the incident, which came after tens of thousands marched in Benghazi in a rally against armed militias. A vehicle was also burned at the compound, which was taken over by Libyan security forces after its occupants fled.

Or that it was all staged. There was probably no resistance because it was set up to make Hillary and Barak O look a bit better on the news shows over the weekend.
