MARIKANA, South Africa (AP) -- Two men who survived a mass shooting by police that killed 34 striking miners say a traditional healer told the strikers that police bullets would not harm them if they used traditional medicine, a South African newspaper reported Tuesday as the mining company postponed an ultimatum for workers to return to work.

I think the Zulu tribe tried the same tactics against the British in the 19th Century.

You would think after what the Dutch settlers and British did in the region using flintlocks to machine guns these superstitutions people would of learned. This is straight out of the attitude of native warrious during the Zulu War.

Back in the 1970’s during the battle for Rhodesia the rebel soldiers would set the sights on their AK’s to the maximum range (I think it is 1000 meters) because some shaman told them it would make the guns more powerful.

No wonder so many advances in civilization have come from that continent.

Victor Davis Hanson in his book “Culture and Carnage” said the Zulu warriors did the same exact thing back in 1879 with captured British Martini-Henry pattern rifles.

At least the Chinese are civilized enough to learn. The Boxers thought the same thing about being immune to bullets but after the failed Boxer rebellion I never heard of any Chinese claiming such immunity again.

Oh, I was just making a play off of the Sioux Ghost Dancers from the late 1800's and their Ghost Shirts. I looked up "Shadowrun" because of your question and it looks pretty interesting, but Zelda is more my speed.
