AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do—that’s host. Get ready to what you were born to do—that’s listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

It sure looks like it. Trying to deflect the “murder” ad by touting Romneycare? Refusing to respond to the Chick-fil-A controversy? Criticizing the Boy Scouts? Yikes, Romney and his advisors are tone-deaf.

It’s time to fight back...It’s time to file a defamation suit against the obama superpac AND the man hired to tell his ‘story’ AND the production company who made it.

"If the woman had lived in Massachusetts she would have had coverage".

And these are the people who are going to roll back Obamacare? What to the hell is going on? We are soooo f****d. This is McCAne II all over again. It is like the Romney people have the critical thinking capability of a third grader. Why don't we exume the body of Robert Dole and put him on the top of the ticket? He would have the same commitment and exuberence as Romney.....same energy...same deovotion to conservatism. What is going on We have only about 2 months left.

This is my guess. I don’t think Obama thinks that these ads will turn Romney voters into Obama voters. I’m thinking that they want to dispirit Romney voters into either staying home or that they will turn to a 3rd party candidate, and that enough 3rd party voters would upset the apple cart in swing states, the same way Perot did in ‘92. It wouldn’t take as many that voted for Perot, but just enough to keep Romney from squeaking out a victory in certain key states.

....probable cause for banishment plus a violation of The Oath, so I won't say any more.

Just GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Isnt part of the Scout pledge, “to do my duty to God and country.....” or close to that?

I dasre say that sodomy does not fall under the category of “duty to God”

Yea I don’t get it. Mormons are pretty strict about Sodomite condemnation. They use the BSA as part of the church’s community service, that’s why there are so many Mormon Eagle Scouts. If Mittens is some sort of deacon or priest in that church he sure is stepping on his tallwhacker here.

JMHO, some "advisor" with an ever-ready eye to appeal to the mythical Uncommitted Vote is the author of this crap.

Then, there's the deer-in-the-headlights response to that Romney-killed-somebody ad to throw into the mix.

....sometimes the tail wags the da** dog, but I kinda think that Romney needs to re-evaluate some of his hires on that campaign staff.

Yes! Yes, I know Dole lives. I mean no disrepect against Dole. It is just that he ran a presidential campaign like he was a dead man walking.....just like Romney is doing now. I know Romney has to be smart...MBA, JD from Harvard. But he seems not to register how insulting and damning these allegations are....that he killed a woman. Time to set temerity aside. Time for Romney to get pissed....’His dead father must be ashamed of his son’....is over the line. Grow a nutsack. These types of responses on Romneys part is like Dukakis being asked,
‘if someone raped your wife.....’. Dukakis went into academic mode. These things are personal and have nothing to do with politics, and Romney should be righteously indignant. He should be royally pissed. And he should tell assholes like obama and reed to meet him at ‘high noon’. But the Romney response is deafeningly silent. Grow a set, Mr. Romney, grow a set.

Obama Administration Rebuffs Congressional Inquiry on Legality of Gutting Welfare Reform

Posted By Robert Rector On July 19, 2012 @ 4:31 pm In Entitlements,Family and Religion,Featured | 8 Comments

Two Members of Congress demanded an official explanation from Obama’s Health and Human Services Department (HHS) for its gutting of welfare work requirements—and HHS responded by saying (in many more words), “Well, years ago, some Republicans tried to do this.”

Except they didn’t.

Not only did Secretary Kathleen Sebelius completely ignore the legal questions surrounding the Administration’s unilateral rewriting of the law, but she also fabricated charges against Mitt Romney and 28 other Republican governors.

Last week, the Obama Health and Human Services Department (HHS) issued an administrative order overturning the welfare-to-work provisions of the successful welfare reform of 1996. This action was blatantly illegal. [1]

Committee chairmen Senator Orrin Hatch (R–UT) and Congressman Dave Camp (R–MI) quickly sent a letter to Sebelius [2] challenging the legality of the action and demanding an explanation of the legal basis for the power grab.

HHS responded that Romney, as governor of Massachusetts, sought a waiver from federal work requirements in 2005.

In support of this concoction, the Administration provided a letter [3] from Romney and 28 other Republican governors to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R–TN) from that year.

But this letter makes no mention at all of waiving work requirements under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. In fact, the legislation promoted in the letter—the Personal Responsibility and Individual Development for Everyone (PRIDE) Act—actually would have toughened the federal work standards. It proposed raising the mandatory participation rates imposed on states from 50 percent to 70 percent of the adult TANF caseload and increasing the hours of required work activity.

The governors’ letter actually contradicts the Administration’s main argument: If the law has always permitted HHS to waive the work requirements, then why didn’t the governors just request waivers from then-President George W. Bush? Why would legislation be needed?

Two reasons: First, it has been clear for 15 years that the TANF law did not permit HHS to waive the work requirements. Second, the Republican governors were not seeking to waive the work requirements in the first place.

The 2005 letter from Governor Romney and other Republican governors urged the Senate to reauthorize the TANF program, an action that should have occurred four years earlier. (Reauthorization did not occur because the Senate Democrats blocked it in 2002 and filibustered it in 2003.)

In their 2005 letter, the governors do mention “increased waiver authority,” but they were clearly not asking for the ability to waive TANF work requirements. The mention of waiver authority relates to section 112(c) of the PRIDE bill: “program coordination demonstration projects.” The point of this very limited provision was to encourage 10 demonstrations on integrating and coordinating a limited set of welfare programs. The bill’s stated purpose was to “strengthen service systems and provide more coordination and effective service delivery.” [4] The provision in the PRIDE bill did not grant section 1115 or any other authority to HHS to waive the TANF work standards.

The governors’ letter also speaks of greater administrative flexibility. Both the House-passed reauthorization in 2002 and the PRIDE bill would have provided greater administrative flexibility and simplification in some aspects of the work program, while substantially strengthening the core work requirements. But these changes have never become law, because the Senate Democrats have, for 10 years, resolutely blocked the passage of a separate TANF reauthorization law. (TANF was reauthorized as part the Deficit Reduction Act in 2006, but that venue limited the types of legal changes that could be made.)

The TANF work requirements have been extremely successful [5], lifting millions of Americans out of poverty, and they should not be overturned. Instead, they should be strengthened and applied in related programs such as food stamps and public housing.
