Mitt Romney Comes Out in Support of Homosexual Boy Scout Leaders, Members
Christian News ^ | August 6, 2012 | Heather Clark

A spokesperson for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has advised that the former Massachusetts governor disagrees with the Boy Scout’s current policy prohibiting open homosexuals from serving as members and leaders.

According to The Associated Press, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul told the news outlet in an email that Romney still stands by his beliefs that homosexual men should be able to serve in the organization. She specifically noted that Romney had outlined his views in 1994 during a political debate, and that his stance has not changed.

“I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue,” Romney stated during the debate. “I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

As previously reported, last month, the Boy Scouts of America issued a statement reaffirming its policy prohibiting open homosexuals from joining the organization.

“The committee’s work and conclusion is that this policy reflects the beliefs and perspectives of the BSA’s members, thereby allowing Scouting to remain focused on its mission and the work it is doing to serve more youth,” the statement said. “The review included forthright and candid conversation and extensive research and evaluations — both from within Scouting and from outside of the organization.”

The decision to reiterate and reaffirm the Scout’s current policy followed two years of deliberations from an eleven-member committee comprised of Boy Scout executives and other volunteers who represented “a diversity of perspectives and opinions.”

When all was said and done, the committee concluded that the restriction served as “the best policy” for the Boy Scouts.

The current policy reads, “While the BSA does not proactively inquire about the sexual orientation of employees, volunteers, or members, we do not grant membership to individuals who are open or avowed homosexuals or who engage in behavior that would become a distraction to the mission of the BSA.”

Mitt Romney also recently reiterated his support for homosexual adoption. This past May, in an interview with Neil Cavuto of Fox News, he explained that while he is against the concept of homosexual “marriage,” he does believe that homosexual couples should be able to adopt children.

“[I]f two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship, or even to adopt a child, in my state, individuals of the same sex were able to adopt children. In my view, that’s something that people have a right to do,” Romney outlined. “But, to call that ‘marriage’ is something that in my view is a departure from the real meaning of that word.”

He had first outlined his position on the matter in 1996 while talking to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

“Well, they are able to adopt children,” he said. “I’m not going to change that.”

Prior to Saul serving as Romney’s press secretary, Richard Grenell, an open homosexual, filled the position.

A puke endorsed by the Republican primary voters, uninformed as they still are.

When the Mass. Supreme Judicial Court forced same-sex “marriage” upon that unfortunate state some years ago, then Governor Romney did little or nothing to stand in its way. No bureaucratic sabotage or hindering of its implementation; no George Wallace-like standing in the way of a vile decision. He just shrugged and accepted it. Sad.

He's fine with sodomites adopting kids, and he's fine with them being in the Boy Scouts, and he says so. But he just can't bring himself to offer a word of support for freedom of speech & religion (Chick Fil-A).

I guess it doesn’t matter about how one votes for President; it’s the little uninformed Republican primary voters who have ruined the country.

Sam Brownback disagrees with you, montag

Brownback camp slams Romney on Boy Scout stance Brownback, left, has directed several criticisms toward Romney.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/07/23/brownback-camp-slams-romney-on-boy-scouts-stance/

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sen. Sam Brownback’s presidential campaign accused Republican White House rival Mitt Romney of being “hostile to Boy Scout leadership and principles” Monday, the latest in a string of direct criticisms from the Kansas Republican designed undermine the former Massachusetts governors’ conservative credentials.

At issue is Romney’s past support of allowing gays to participate in Boy Scout troops. In a statement, Brownback’s campaign quotes then-Massachusetts U.S. Senate candidate Romney from a 1994 debate saying “all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

The campaign also quotes a Utah news report from 2000 alleging Romney, then head of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics organizing committee, did not welcome scout groups to be part of the games.

“Romney's openness to gay scout leaders conflicts with the Scout Oath, which requires Scouts to be "morally straight," Brownback’s campaign stated.

Kevin Madden, a spokesman for Romney’s campaign, called Brownback’s accusations “distortions,” and noted that in the same 1994 Senate debate, Romney also said he supported allowing the Boy Scout troops to make their own leadership decisions. Madden also quoted a New York Times article from 2002 indicating Romney had invited “200 area Boy Scouts” to take part in the games.

“Some other campaigns will resort to negative attacks and distortions which is an unfortunate reflection on their campaign’s conduct,” Madden added. “Governor Romney has been a supporter of the Boy Scouts and has said he supports their right to decide scouting policies.”

Brownback, struggling to gain momentum among social conservatives, has previously leveled several criticisms against Romney over his changed abortion-rights stance.

I agree with you, that is what he said, but I think his views on that will harm him more than probably anything else he’s said.

I’ve seen what pedos do, and know damned well if it were ever opened up, you’d have abuse beyond the pale. Even without them openly allowing gays in, they sneak in and do horrible things.. and thats with EVERYONE on constant guard.

Yes, I know not all homos are pedophiles, but as a proportion of their population it is a HUGE percentage, and many were abused themselves by men in their past which is why they are homosexual and pedophiles themselves (yes, I know not all men abused as children wind up gay and pedophiles, but the link is very very clear that sadly if that happens to you, you are more likely than most to wind up that way.)

I celebrate that the Scouts have put the safety of children far above the political correctness of the gay lobby.

Romney doesn’t want “Chick-fil-A” to be part of his campaign, but “Chick-n-Hawk” is AOK!

Great comment!

So, you want to suppress any news stories that point out Romney’s lack of conservative chops? Face it: Romney sucks, and a lot of us feel he is being crammed down our throats.

His campaign’s statement on this and it’s statement on Chick-fil-A came out within days of each other.

You really have to wonder what in the world that is all about???

"Supports more young boys being sexually abused."

I doubt that Romney supports Pedophiles in the boy scouts and I do believe there is a difference between a gay person and a pedophile. While you’re extrapolating his words why not include axe murderers.

Sarcasm, my friend, sarcasm.

“I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue,” Romney stated during the debate. “I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

Talk about playing the safe card!
"The Boy Scouts can do what ever they want, so what I think about the idea doesn't matter. I don't wanna rock the political boat."

He'd better support the 98.3% of the population in the end - he's playing with fire here. The normal, heterosexual vote is a very powerful thing. If he goes homo now, Americans will drive to a Chic Fil A instead of driving to the voting booth to vote for him.

Does Romney support gay rights legislation outlawing discrimination against homosexuals in the workplace, entertainment industry, church, clubs and other private organizations? Of course he does.
Romney would sign legislation into law in a heartbeat that would prohibit the scouts and all other organizations from closing their membership and leadership to avowed, practicing, flaunting sodomite hooligans.
If he cannot admit that homosexuality is the sickest and most perverse of sin, he is a lost soul not worthy of my vote.

I agree. There is no path for this country to recover if the only choice we’re afforded is evil vs. evil.

This also for Gayfox and any other FReepers who say that refusing to support the Myth is the same as supporting Obama:

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

We will all answer to a higher authority than the opinions of our fellow FReepers.
