Tuscaloosa County Sheriffs deputies are searching for three people who stole a mans truck and belongings Thursday night.
The man told deputies that he was driving toward Tuscaloosa on U.S. Highway 82 around 9:45 p.m. when a woman flagged him down, said Tuscaloosa County Sheriffs Office spokesman Sgt. Andy Norris.
The woman said that her tire was flat when the man stopped near the 65 mile marker.
He was getting a tire jack from his truck when two armed men approached and demanded his possessions. The man gave them a wedding band valued at $3,500, cash totaling $700, power tools valued at $5,000, a debit card and iPhone.

Iago - Othello Act 3, scene 3, 155161 Good name in man and woman, dear my lord,
Is the immediate jewel of their souls.
Who steals my purse steals trash; 'tis something, nothing;
'Twas mine, 'tis his, and has been slave to thousands;
But he that filches from me my good name
Robs me of that which not enriches him,
And makes me poor indeed.
I feel the same way. While on vacation last year, on I-75 South, in Georgia, We saw what looked like a family whose car had broken down. But the "kids" looked older and it just didn't have the right feel about it. As we passed, the man, kept his head down so you couldn't see his face, and the lady was waving like she wanted us to stop. We pulled off down the the highway past them and I had my wife yell back that we were calling to get them help as we started to pull away again. And the lady's running to catch us yelling for us to wait.
We did call Police and tell them the mile marker, but the whole thing just felt like trouble to me. Even though I wouldn't go on a trip without my .45, it's not like I wanted to use it on a "family" trying to rob us by faking car trouble.
Years ago in New Orleans a woman where i work was in her car when another car ran into her. She gets out to exchange insurance information and wait for the police. Kidnapped and raped.
Stopping for any reason on the road is dangerous.
Shame this is the world where we live. Thought posting this might save a life.
Try being a good samaritan in Saudi Arabia and give aide to people hurt in a car accident.
When the police arrives you can expect to go to jail to be called later as a witness to the trial.
There are insurance scams that operate the same way.
Scam 1: The car in front of you dramatically slows down, or even stops, for no reason. If you're following too closely, you hit the car. Everyone in their car claims a back injury.
Scam 2 (and this one is worse): You want to make a left-hand turn. A car opposite you signals that it's okay to make the turn. As you begin to turn, the other car moves forward, and you hit the car. Everyone in their car claims a back injury.
In both cases, it's all set up to make it appear that you are a terrible, careless driver. Sickening.
I see someone waving their arms like that, I get their tag or model & call the police & report the nearest mile marker.

Somebody contact John Derbyshire.
Similar thing happened to my brother. He was in college and coming home late one night from class. 3 Obama voters bumped into him from the back. He was just about to get out of the car when they ALL got out....he took off asap. They never followed him.
