Adam Smith held an appointment as an Adjunct Lecturer, Finance (non-tenure eligible) in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona from January 2, 2012, to May 20, 2012. He presently holds no appointment with the University.

What he did wasn't free speech--it was abuse. He didn't simply say he disagreed with Chick-fil-A; he basically attacked the young lady while he asked for free service and filmed himself. He crossed the line, using free speech as a cover.
My wife says that if she had been behind the window, she would have found it difficult to not throw something at him, because he was clearly abusing this woman and getting gratification from the fact she had to take it. It was an unwarranted power trip. That was the real personal transaction, not the spoken opinion of policy.
However, if you use said personal car to conduct any official government business, it is not.

It was placed there by our own mods out of what I suppose is an abundance of caution to reflect the actual content of the statement itself.
While the University made clear his contract ended May 20th, it wasn’t until yesterday that they began to scrub any reference to him from their website.
They make no mention of any future contract renewal.
True. I have been working as an adjunct professor at a university for the past 5 years. For the first couple of years, I was on a contract basis. I signed a contract for each block of classes I would teach.
There were times when my contract expired, but it was always understood that I would continue to teach. I never considered myself to be unaffiliated with the university.
Since then, I've been taken on as an employee of the university.

I think it may be different here in Pennsylvania...even our school bus drivers who only work during the school year, sign up for unemployment over the summer!!! they take that job knowing it is nine months work a year...
they do make good money as well, as most of them take extra side field trips...but most have NO benefits!!!! I don't know any that have more than HS education..
strange world we live in...
