Thousands Celebrate Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day [ABC news coverage]
ABC News ^ | Aug 1 2012 | Amy Bingham

Posted on 08/01/2012 10:19:40 AM PDT by scottjewell

People across the country are flocking to Chick-fil-A today, not because of the fast-food chain's chicken sandwiches, but because of its CEO's vocal support of traditional marriage.

Nearly 600,000 supporters signed up to celebrate Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day today, which former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee created to counter a boycott launched by gay marriage activists last week after Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy said he was "guilty as charged" for not supporting gay marriage...

Courtney Clem, 22, strolled over to the Chick-fil-A in Crystal City, Va., to pick up lunch for her entire office and show her support. Clem said she wanted to eat at Chick-fil-A today not only because she supports traditional marriage but because she supports the First Amendment.

"We want to support their right to an opinion," Clem said. "I do support that opinion. And the right. Even if it was an opinion I disagreed with, I'd be here today. "

...

Gay rights groups launched a national boycott of the chicken chain last week, which the mayors of Chicago, San Francisco, Boston and Washington, D.C., have publically supported.

The Philadelphia City Council is considering a resolution to condemn the company for what councilman Jim Kenney called their "Anti-American attitude."

D.C. councilman Marion Barry tweeted that he does not support "hate chicken," Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino said there is "no place for your company" in his city and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the restaurant's "values are not Chicago values."

The Chicago Republican Party is making a formal complaint against Emanuel today, alleging that the mayor has "broken civil rights laws pertaining to religious freedom and the First Amendment in denying Chick-fil-A a permit...

National conservative figures have responded to the controversy with an outpouring of support for the restaurant.

Ha, my friend, to save gas you could always purchase something at their online merchandise store such as a Tee shirt (I did) and National Org for Marriage has something on their blog where you can email CFA words of support.

My CFA is packed, too.

I’m going tomorrow & let the manager know the support continues.

“And the rainbow agenda surely was not expecting this blow-back.”

That’s because they think (due to the MSM reporting it) that the majority of this country supports & celebrates them and that people like Mr. Cathy are on the fringe.

I suggested this on another thread, but how about every Wednesday being CFA Wednesday? If you are of a mind to get a bite to eat on Wednesday, go to CFA! :-)

So where are all the Gaystapo faggies with their counterprotest same-sex gross-in and threatened confrontation with us hated “breeders”?

Oh...sorry, forgot......that’s Friday at 8:00 p.m. when most of the bigot antigay homophobic heteros will be eating supper at home with their families.

This...is...huge!

Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz is already trying to paint a happyface on it. Mustn’t mention the Tea Party, now, Debbie!

Yep, it’s about a tenth of a mile from my office. :)

It is a Chik-fil-a “Express”, but you should see the lines on a daily basis! During orientation, there are regularly 40 to 50 people in line.

Collierville, TN CFA is packed. Cars lined up for 2 blocks for drive-thru lane. A long line of people standing in the parking lot trying to get in. No room in the parking lot, so cars are spilling over into a vacant car dealership next door. Also spoke with someone who says the same thing happening at a Memphis CFA on Poplar Ave.

Don’t forget to support Wendy’s, McDonalds, Taco Bell, KFC, etc for they support CFA, spread the support! Maybe it should be a Monday @ Wendy’s, Tuesday at Taco Bell, Wednesday CFA, Thursday McDonalds, Friday @ KFC, etc etc!

Johnson City TN reporting, sir:

Chick-Fil-A at People's Ave, packed as of breakfast time.

As of lunch time--- husband reports --- cars backed up more than half a mile all the way to N. State of Franklin Road. Later --- friend from church reports --- traffic nearly gridlocked at Knob Creek intersection.

And now I'm kicking myself. It would have been a perfect chance to walk up and down handing out leaflets for local Conservative upcoming events, or at least circulating petitions.

NOTE TO SELF: MAKE THE MOST OF THESE OPPORTUNITIES, YOU DUMMY!

Hit the one in Hagerstown MD while I was on the road, lines out both doors, running 4 registers, lot full, traffic jammed and backed up on the boulevard.

God Bless Americans!!!

D.C., Boston, Chicago... As if CFA would want to root in those corrupt, high-tax, high-crime liberal hellholes anyway... If I were Dan Cathy, I'd consider those rejections blessings in disguise.

Yep! this is a VERY GOOD SIGN for November.

It is so important that Obama loses by a wide margin, so that cheating & "lawyering" cannot possibly win the election for him.

I got breakfast there this morning but could not wait for lunch. At 12:30 the Chick Fil A in Olathe, KS.
you could not even get close. Cars in every direction . Police directing traffic . We ended up eating at Mr. Gyro. I didn’t have the time. Might try for dinner. asked a person who parked about 1800’ from the entrance to the rest how long it took him and he said 45 mins to get to the front of the line. The cars at the drive thru had to be 60 of them. good to see.

The liberals will burn for this crime against AMERICAN VALUES.

I hope Mr. Cathy shows his appreciation by giving every voter on November 6th a Free shake with proof of voting (little sticker most get at the polls saying I VOTED.

Yes, is this case the MSM was not their friend, having led them into a delusion. Did them no favors, and now they are having a day of awakening.
