In an after election interview, Wentworth attributed the loss to voter anger that was misdirected towards he and Dewhurst. He said that he and Dewhurst were doing such a great job for Texas..........
translation........the voters were stupid........
It’s 57% now ... 14 point spread
This is our smack down to GOP-e. Good for us in Texas.
I would give them the benefit of the doubt - they do have a point, compared to the actual Democrat opposition they had. :P
Compared to an actual conservative, not so much. But still, compared to a true Dem, yeah, they weren’t doing terribly badly.
Take THAT Dick Cheney! Your dumass crack about Sarah Palin helped Cruz beat your butt buddy Dewhurst even more nyuck nyuck!
You saw it coming the minute you could get your foot out of your mouth and then decided to go fishing instead of going to the convention...
Wonderful victory for Cruz. Just curious—what was the total cost of the campaigns? I’m assuming Dewhurst spent a lot more than Cruz.
At my polling place the Rats had 5 people the GOP 260.
Tea Party Rocks and Rolls.
Just not for the President....Why the Tea Party couldn’t give us a conservative and instead gave us a liberal nominee is what is tragic. Congrats to Cruz.
I woke up to very good news this morning. Thank you GOD.
The TEA Party is BACK and we just “GOTSUM”!
Try looking at it this way: Dewhurst or Sheila Jackson-”We need more black names for hurricanes”-Lee?
If you look at it with that relative view, yeah, they have a point.
On the other hand, on an absolute scale? Yeah, Dewhurst and company can GTFO.
It’s great news for Texas & our nation.
Who are those folks that keep saying the tea party is dead?!??! Please step forward & identify yourselves!
Great way to start my day!!!
Well Maxine Waters also doomed the TEA Party to he\\ but we got other plans in mind, thank the Lord...
The Tea Party had their marches and demonstrations. They were the reason why the GOP won big in 2010. They are now into the next phase where they are actually running candidates and winning.
Occupy group still banging on bongos and sleeping on other people's property.
A contrast between the producers and the takers
Besides the stuff you know about there is this:
It was also a very bad night for squishy Republicans, like House Speaker Joe Straus. And a downright miserable one for Mr. Straus own state senator, the newly-defeated Jeff Wentworth.
The Texas Legislature has been vastly improved with this primary election cycle, and last night only cemented conservative gains. Of the state legislative races, the biggest run-off news was conservative-champion Dr. Donna Campbell defeating liberal incumbent Jeff Wentworth by a two-to-one margin.
One quick lesson for Republicans in the Texas House: the closer they stand to Speaker Straus and his henchmen like State Reps. Charlie Geren and Jim Keffer the more likely they are to lose.
Two more Straus committee chairmen (Sid Miller and Chuck Hopson) lost re-election, joining the three Straus chairs who lost in the first round of primary voting.
In the open-seats, Straus-friendly candidates fell like flies.
A bit of explanation is in order here I think.
Two sessions ago the Texas House of Representatives was a closely divided body with 76 Rs and 74 Ds. The speaker of that body, a staunch conservative though somewhat heavy handed in his leadership style man named Tom Craddick was ousted when a number of supposed Rs conspired with the minority Ds to elect a RINO named Joe Straus as speaker and thus the house has since labored under the leadership of a speaker elected largely by the minority party there.
EVERY ONE of the Rs who were a party to that have now had their hats handed to them by the voters in their districts!
This also shows the GOPe that Sarah Palin can still bring in the votes for conservative candidates.
Yes, thank you Texas Tea Party!!!!!! Wooohooo!!!!
Boy, these unintended consequences seem to be piling up, lets keep it going!!
Excellent job, congrats to all!!!
Did I remember correctly that Cruz said 1 of the 1st things he would do is bring in 6 conservatives to congress?
Or am I making that up (wishful thinking)?
A double a$$ whooping, woohoo!!
Texas rocks. Spirit of San Antonio alive and well.
According to RCP Cruz defeated Dewhurst by an impressive 14 points .
Cruz was born to a Cuban-American father and an American mother in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where his parents were working in the petroleum business. His father was imprisoned and tortured in Cuba until he escaped to freedom in Texas in 1957.
Cruz attended high school at Faith West Academy in Katy, Texas, and then graduated from Second Baptist High School in Houston.
Cruz earned his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society’s Debate Panel as one of North America’s top-ranked parliamentary debaters, winning the top speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship. In 1992, he was named Speaker of the Year and Team of the Year (with his debate partner, David Panton) by the American Parliamentary Debate Association. Cruz was also a semi-finalist at the 1995 World Universities Debating Championship.
Cruz graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. He was a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review, an executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review.............How’s that for a resume!
Your "wishful thinking" is the reality imo.

I had the honor of meeting and talking to his father at a TPX Tour Tea Party Rally earlier this year. Cruz has a great family.
Plus, check out This Comment on this thread from a political astute buddy of mine in Texas
God Bless you for the links and putting my doubts aside!! I do believe it was quoted in a FReeper thread.
Seems like we’re making a difference. I can only assume the lamestream media thought we were “dead” because we weren’t going to DC anymore.
Little did they know, after barrycare was shoved down our throats, we went “underground”. We are ALL about action.
Even here in NY, we voted in a conservative...
There was some “hoopala” regarding him being on the R ticket, so he went I....and won!!!
I 1st met him at Huntington’s Conservative Party Christmas party (I met this party when I volunteered at the Hofstra Debate 08).
I did not change my R to C because I would not be able to vote in the primaries. My sister, FReeper nothinglefttolose did.
Baby steps, but we MUST start from the bottom and bring it up!
Great, keep up the good work back there in NY!
All this time the media was saying the Tea Party is dead, they were also reporting on the Conslervative influence it was having.
We have to keep fighting hard being as the GOP isn’t interested in countering voter fraud, and their attitude of letting the dems (open primaries) and the media choose their candidates.
The Tea Party is Dead!
Long live the Tea Party!
AMEN to that!
NY is a very blue state and extremely hard to change. But with us out there, from the bottom up, I think we can make a difference.
It's a long haul, but we are willing to fight for it! One baby step at a time!
I'm not buying that. I know Dan and he was a a$$clown in his attempts to get Dewhurst elected. Especially the bogus radio add where Dan gets all over Cruz. What a crock.
Patrick has become what he has supposedly against all these years. I'm very disappointed in him. I'm fed up with him and I will never ever give him another penny. His ego has gotten so out of hand it is laughable.
Here he is within his 1st 30 days....
If the reason Dan tried to torpedo the real conservative in the race was for senate politics... then he put establishment ahead of being a conservative... exactly what he used to champion against.
There were tons of problems with Dewhurst:
* The speaker of the house scandal
* In Houston, he had more campaign signs in democrat districts than he did in conservative ones
* He couldn’t bring himself to put forth a conservative agenda (mainly because he wasn’t one)
* His campaign commercials were cheap shots and persuaded me (along with a lot of other people) to vote against him.
Dan Patrick is in the same boat for me until he either apologizes for that commercial/interview, or is endorsed by Cruz. NPR treats conservatives better than what he did in that interview.
Oh yea you betcha!
Heh, here in Calif it’s an uphill babble...oops liked that thypo lol...battle also.
Not gonna give up, no way.
California, home of Free Republic and had President Reagan for governor of course...
Sometimes I cry knowing what is to become.
But there is something within me that keeps telling me “keep fighting”, which I do.
Until that “fat lady of doom” sings, I will keep fighting. It’s the only thing we have left.
We have no choice except to stand strong and keep fighting.
America has to be preserved as the Constitutional Republic that is was intended to be.
I changed my tag line after a long time staying the same
Hay, your FR page is looking good.
Love to see an activist like you doin’ what you do, keep it up!
Before I go see a doc, I'm trying to control it with diet and some exercise (which I hate).
Another 6-8 weeks will determine the diets effectiveness.
Well good luck with that, NoGrayZ. Seriously.
