GOP Group: Sarah Palin IS Qualified to Serve in White House

Palin's Qualifications to Serve in White House Should Not Be Questioned

Lloyd Marcus, the Chairman of leading conservative group Campaign to Defeat Obama PAC released the following statement today in response to an ABC news report that former Vice President Dick Cheney criticized Sarah Palin’s qualifications to serve in the White House:

“To suggest that Sarah Palin does not possess the necessary qualifications to serve in the White House is ridiculous on its face. Ever since she was selected in 2008 by the Republican party’s nominee for president, then ratified by the GOP membership at the Republican Party convention, she has proven time and time again to be an extremely capable, inspiring and visionary leader.

“Palin has proven her mettle in the years since 2008. She has become one of the most prominent and vocal leaders of the tea party movement, and her campaign efforts have single-handedly influenced the outcome of countless senatorial, congressional and gubernatorial elections because the American people believe in her leadership skills and trust her judgment. They know that she knows a great leader when she sees one because she herself is a great leader.

“Contrast that with the disastrous record Barack Obama has compiled since 2008. Obama has failed the people of this nation and brought harm to our economy, national defense and the American spirit.

Campaign to Defeat Obama Vice Chair Andrea Shea King concluded:

“Sarah Palin will never be the safe choice of the GOP establishment blue bloods.

"In bucking the ‘good old boys’ throughout her entire career and proving that she could rack up accomplishments and make big differences -- as both an executive in office and a citizen activist and Tea Party leader -- she has proven she is more valuable than the whole lot of them.

"Sarah Palin’s record and leadership abilities speak for themselves and anybody would do better to emulate them than to marginalize themselves by taking swipes at her.”

“ The Left and their allies in the media will always try to personally malign conservatives for their own political purposes, but it is our responsibility to not only prevent ourselves from being sucked into these tricks and giving credence to these baseless attacks, but also to proactively fight back. This proud American conservative will not stand for these despicable sneering smears against Sarah Palin, and no conservative should.”

NO! Not Sarah again. TOP of the TICKET ONLY for her.

Amen, sister. Sarah was the first to say that she'd never run as a VP candidate again. It's in her book.

She’s too polarizing.

A lot of Freepers just put you on their 'watch' list, with that comment. Not a threat - just a fact.

Little hint....if you want to blend in, you'll have to learn to speak like a real conservative.

I understand we disagree on the larger point of whether she is well-suited for the White House (I believe she is and you believe she is not), however, she has a better track record of experience and a better perspective and understanding on the fundamentals of how/why this nation was founded and the thinking of our Founding Fathers than the current president - there's no comparison.

Comparing her to a treasonous incompetent doesn't render her qualified, at least by my standards. Any such metric is subjective anyway.

I hold military CIC as a high fraction of presidential responsibilities. I'm with Patton there, especially as regards having read the classics in many fields by which to understand the context of the present. One simply cannot understand the guy across the table with whom one is negotiating or across the battlefield without knowing his country's history.

One simply cannot understand what is wrong with regulation of manufacturing without having learned how manufacturing works. Look at how Reagan traveled the country to learn exactly that. Look at how he studied Montesquieu, or Locke.

Reagan was nobody's "amiable dunce" because he had done his homework for years with his feet in many a manufacturing plant, and DID NOT rely upon his advisers to tell him what to think (think "tear down this wall," which his advisers tried to cut from the speech). Such is exactly my criticism of her in that I believe the RINOs think they can lead her down the primrose path with a clauqe of whispering "experts." She just hasn't done that background work with which to develop an appropriate ground of skepticism.

Simply quoting Hayek doesn't mean one has grasped Hayek, or any other pivotal philosopher. For example, I'm reading up on Titus Lucretius Carus. Why, is he obscure. Well, to the philosophers who were informing the founders of this country, absolutely not; he was pivotal. I simply see no sign of that kind of curiosity in Sarah Palin in any field.

If she were the nominee, the grassroots would explode with such enthusiasm.

The election would be a blow out. Palin won't be bought off and the insiders know it.

The country needs her, not a liberal like Romney ..

If she had been a man; the Gop-e would had tied themselves to that (like they are doing with Rubio) ..Jealously in the media that she has the brains to govern, has a great family, a moral compass that guides her (being pretty, sends them into orbit) We like her for being real.

"I simply see no sign of that kind of curiosity in Sarah Palin in any field."

I can think of one off the top of my head right away: energy policy.

I can think of a second which is her passion for the right to life and how it was reflected not in her religious and personal views but how readily she embraced motherhood to a child with Down's Syndrome and became an advocate for parents of children with special needs.

In both of these areas, her curiosity and passions were real and from within.

From your lips to God’s ear, but how do you figure Mitt will be dumped and replaced?

“Palin will end up as the GOP nominee. You heard it here first. The GOP-e is preparing to dump Mitt. Watch for it.”

May I recommend a large (64oz.) glass of reality.

“Wake up and get real. Palin, as much as I love her, and wish she were our candidate, IS NOT GOING TO BE THE ONE GETTING THE NOD THIS YEAR!”

That’s the problem with newbies like you, you don’t really know us REAL conservatives think. :-)

THEY are the ones who need moderating NOT us, we have made too may retreats and too many compromises with the Progressives in the GOP, and look what that has brought us, Ubama, and no force of will to stand up to him.

Zact'ly. Moderates flap their gums about compromise, acceptable candidates, and electable candidates but they themselves will hand a race to the democrats before they'll vote for a conservative. And then they'll turn around and blame the conservatives for losing the race that they refused to vote in or even voted for the democrat.

They're still pointing to Goldwater's landslide defeat as an example but the reality is that they themselves engineered that defeat because moderates like George Romney refused to support Goldwater.

The fact is that the GOP now has a candidate to the left of Bill Clinton and the broken glass republicans are happily destroying the country right along with the left.

That is what bugs me about the Goldwater defeat, that was 50 years ago. Not to mention we have Reagen's 2 truly impressive victories in the 80's.

But you are right when you say that Moderates are the purist bloc of them all, they won't vote for ANYONE, unless they agree with them, on all things.

Willing Blind Fools I say.

We’re so busy fighting the democrats that we’re losing the war badly. We see it all the time. Conservatives blaming democrats for things that have been going on for decades (even when the GOP was in control) and then screaming that we’ve got to elect republicans no matter how bad they are even if they’ll continue doing the liberal thing.

In this thread about energy independence it doesn’t take long for someone to come running to declare that Mitt St Jesus will save us from the EPA and it will be boomtimes in the energy industry. Obama doesn’t help matters much but he sure as hell didn’t start this decades old decline and Romney isn’t about to stop it.

Its Funny, Dems have to Campaign as Conservatives (I saw an ad for Claire McCaskil and she sounded like she wanted to be the second coming of Goldwater, but I know it is all lies)

And Repubs think they have to be liberals to win elections, when in truth that costs them more elections than I can count-2008,1996, the Congressional elections of 2006 etc etc.

Cheney really needs to ask himself: “Self. How many Republicans in ‘08 cast their votes for Sarah Palin OVER McCain, because McCain, in their minds, was a certain loser?”

I think he’s be shocked by the answer.

Oh Sarah...why oh why didn’t you run??

Death threats against her, her children, her extended family. There are more than enough Bill Ayers types on the left to carry out such threats.
