The United States may break with a controversial tradition and dip its flag to Britain's leaders at the opening ceremony for the London Olympics, U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) CEO Scott Blackmun said on Thursday.

If zero had any sense, he would use this as an opportunity to say “the flag of the United States dips to no one.” He would lose no votes and maybe pick up a few votes from yellow-bellied indies. Also, might distract from “you didn’t build it.”

The call taker seemed unaware until just a few hours ago about the Flag dipping. She is very aware of it now. She is keeping a list and I advised her that the whole membership of the Silver Star Families of America would not be happy if this occured.

I called and just spoke with a very nice lady, who has just started “hearing” about this.
Told her, very politely, that this must not be allowed to happen, cited the Reuters story. She assured me that she would pas this along to her managers...
I suspect they are getting a few calls, so let’s stay nice but call and tell them in no uncertain terms that this must not happen, we do not dip the American flag to ANYONE!!!

Well, the sad thing is that November will probably not make that much difference.
One of my greatest criticisms of both Bushes and Reagan was that they failed to just clean house.
Virtually all of those poisonous bureaucrats remained in place; they just went passive-aggressive for awhile.
I'm pretty sure Romney will operate the same way because people like us view government as a necessary evil, while the other side considers it a religion. Completely different mindset.
