When did WaPo start dealing with the facts? Is this a new policy or something over there?
Romney included the most damaging part, which is the purely snide disrespect for business owners...the ‘they think they are smart’, they think they ‘work hard’. That is the damning part. It shows his contempt, and shows his street agitator core.
Obama's bodyguards in the press never rest. It is useful though to remind people that he was plagiarizing from a speech by Fauxcahontas Warren...it isn't even original claptrap but borrowed.
I’ve now read several of these “context” arguments about what Obama “really” said, and I still come away with the obvious conclusion that the Romney ad is 100% correct. Quoting Elizabeth Warren and/or FDR doesn’t really bolster their position. The fact that the Post goes to FDR for support shows just how disconnected they really are.
Taken in full context, Obama’s statement is more reflective of his Marxist/Leninist ideology.
Obama goes back to that well, several times, to make his point that what’s yours is mine.
He completely undermines the concept of anyone having EARNED their success.
Obama’s mocking of “smart people” and “people who work hard” in the complete statement is worse than the edited version in the ad. But that was the best cover-up of The First Dictator that his mouthpiece, the Washinton Compost, could come up with.
It’s the redistributionist tone of Obama’s remarks that many are picking up on. Taking from the productive and giving to the politically connected in order to remain in power is anti-American.
The stupidity of this “explanation” of Obama’s words is that he is STILL FACTUALLY INCORRECT!
Let’s go with the WORM (what obama really meant) argument that he was referring to the roads and bridges. The MSM is saying that Obama meant that the businesses didn’t build the roads and bridges - WRONG!
Both personal and business taxes were paid by those business owners, so YES - THEY DID BUILD THAT - TOO! And typically, the businesses were there and growing, which caused a need for bigger, better roads and bridges - which are also paid for by more taxes from THE BUSINESS OWNERS!
So, they took all the risk, they worked all the hours, they paid their taxes (personal and business) and now they succeed, Obama and liberals think they should pay MORE! Liberals are AGAINST private success! SCREW THEM!
OK, forget all that for a moment. Take the original comment.
Is that the best way to inspire people? By telling them what they DIDN’T do? What they CAN’T do?
Tell them what they CAN do, and they might just do it.
WaPo is circling the obamawagon train. Romney is not the only one who heard the Marxist-in-chief utter the words, and, know fully what he meant by them.
Obamas words were just saying what he has exhibited in deed for the past 3 1/2 years.
Obama is, among other things, a crook. Excuses and lies are his stock in trade.
How could it be out of “context”? It was the core theme of the speech. Entrepreneurs don’t build anything. They make money off the “investment” of government.
Was this taken out of context too? It is virtually the same thing:
“Government research created the Internet so that all companies could make money off the Internet.”
Steppin’ and fetchin’ for Obama.
A politician’s allies claiming he was taken out of context. Imagine that.
What’s scariest about this, as is often the case, is the set of comments. WaPo readers are frighteningly stupid, blind, hate-filled, irresponsible. Not news to us, but everytime I see this on display, I get scared to death of what lies ahead.
The fact that there are roads does NOT mean I didn’t build my own business. There have always been roads and they are driven on by businessmen and welfare cheats alike.
However, the businessmen pay for them!
Mr. Obama, I paid for this road!
I would like to thank the Wash Post for providing the full, uneditied quote. It’s even more damning than the Romney Ad.
No amount of spin can erase the collectivist ideaolgy basic to Obama and Warren. As others have posted, taxes on individuals and businesses pay for infrastructure, employees are paid market wages or better, etc.
Capitalist production, therefore, develops technology, and the combining together of various processes into a social whole, only by sapping the original sources of all wealth - the soil and the labourer. -- Karl Marx
If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Someone else made it happen. -- Barack Obama
