If just one patron had a conceal carry gun what would the total carnage have been? I was also very disappointed to hear testimony from several patrons that where hiding on the floor under this perpetrator that didn't have the sense or courage to kick this guy in the nuts to get him on the ground and over powered by some patrons.

Be careful. This was not your average nutcase like the perp in the Rep Giffords shooting.

This guy was very clear-headed, had a plan and would have been VERY hard to stop.

He had body armor, including leg guards and throat guards. He had a helmet, mask and used tear gas.

Just imagine trying to shoot this twit in a crowded theater, people panicking, using only a concealed pistol, from a distance, with tear gas clouding your vision and making you choke.

A concealed carrier would have been fairly ineffective against this guy.

This is the anarchist mentality --- they are not crazy, emotional loons, but meticulous planners and prepared for many eventualities.

10-4. Correct. I DO NOT go to places like this that I cannot carry or my wife cannot slip her’s into her purse. If I cannot protect myself or my wife, then we do not go there. I simply refuse to put myself into a situation that I cannot defend myself. If we go to the stinking malls, we go armed. That simple. Malls are always targets for these types and I may very well be the first one he shoots, but if not, then I do not aim to be the 2d one if I can get my weapon out in time. I will shoot back.

I’ve wondered how effective an armed movie-goer would have been.

The theater was dark. It filled with tear gas (and some other gas) before anyone know what was happening.

The attacker had bullet proof armor over most of his body. But the ccw defender wouldn’t be able to tell that in the poor lighting conditions.

Probably the best shot was through the gas mask, but would a ccw holder have been able to (a) know that and (b) see the vulnerable spot through teared eyes?

Nevertheless, an armed movie goer has a much better chance of stopping this man than an unarmed one.
