Texas: Dewhurst accepts debate with Cruz at last minute
Rstrahan

From the Dallas Morning News (no link) Dewhurst accepted a debate at the last minute with Cruz at a Tea Party event. There is strong evidence that Dewhurst's constant harping on China connections and negative ads are hurting Dewhurst, and that he has lost the conservatives in Texas.

It has gotten so bad that the jokes are along the line of " Ted Cruz supports theChinese. He was seen at a Panda drive-through".

Not one ad by Dewhurst giving a positive reason to vote for him.

Dewhurst has proven himself to Texans to be too sleazy and ruthless to represent us in the Senate. Enough already.

Glad to hear that others are seeing through that lying weasel David Dewhurst!

GO CRUZ!

Dewhurst’s attack commercials have really been pissing me off. (*stern narrator voice*) “Ted Cruz was guilty of Election Violations” — BS! He missed a freaking filing deadline and paid a $200 fee.

That is the kind of thing that tells me Dewhurst is too sleazy to even be Dog Catcher.

Does the info you reference have a url on the DMN website?

Here’s the info from the Houston Chronicle:

Cruz, Dewhurst agree to another debate

With their July 31 showdown fast approaching, Republican U.S. Senate candidates David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz have agreed to at least one more televised debate. They will meet for a third time on Monday, the first day of early voting.

Sponsored by the King Street Patriots, a Houston-based tea party group, the debate is set for 6 p.m. at the group’s event hall, 7232 Wynnwood (near Hempstead at Loop 610).

Dewhurst agreed to this debate because he is way behind in the polls.

Yeah, Dewhurst’s histrionic ads have become a joke.

This guy needs to be primaried when he runs again for Lt. Gov. in 2014.

The same negative ad ran 6 times in just one hour of programming last night on CBS in our area. The volume also increased noticeably when the commercial came on. Thought this was no longer permitted. Enough already is right.

Dewhurst agreed to this debate because he is way behind in the polls.”

If that is his reasoning, then his political acumen is about as great as his conservatism.

What an idiot.

I am in Texas and these ads run non-stop and they are nauseating. Dewhurst should be an embarrassment to the Republican Party. What Dewhurst is doing now should also be an extreme embarrassment to the Republicans who endorsed him: Rick Perry, Michael Reagan, and Mike Huckabee

Of course.
I’m waiting for Dewhurst to start running “Cruz tortures puppies and clubs baby seals” radio and TV ads in the Houston market. That’s how bad it is.

Not one ad by Dewhurst giving a positive reason to vote for him.

Just like Obama.

Any pol that can't state a whole list of positive reasons why anyone should vote for them is automatically disqualified in my eyes, and Dewhurst fits that description in spades. Besides, half of what he says talks about the law firm that Cruz worked for - but just because a law firm takes on a client doesn't mean that every lawyer (or even ANY lawyer) in the firm is actually sympathetic to the client's position. Dewhurst is trying to play on the general ignorance about how lawyers operate to win votes, and that kind of open manipulation (i.e. dishonesty) doesn't exactly play well with me.

I am looking forward to voting for Ted Cruz, the only real conservative in this race.

Not one ad by Dewhurst giving a positive reason to vote for him.

I don't watch much TV, so yesterday was the first time I actually saw any TV-ads from either candidate. It was a Dewhurst ad and it started good, talking about him, etc.. then QUICKLY delved into the negatives of Cruz. I was already going to vote for Cruz, but that ad really just SEALED the deal for me. Dewhurst is the worst kind of politician, of the Cornyn/Hutchinson variety - they act like the best, most conservative Texan you have ever seen in your life while running for office, but they govern liberally and get down right NASTY when losing an election!

Dewhurst has clearly jumped the shark with his over-the-top attack ads. One wouldn’t even blink an eye to see yet another grainy ad breathlessly announcing that Cruz eats babies for breakfast.

In a campaign of long ago, we thought Democrat Jim Maddox’s ads were hilarious that featured the clanking of a prison door, but Dewhurst’s snarling ads were even funnier. No sensible voter would take them seriously.

Dew got his @ss handed to him in the last debate. Now he’s coming back for more punishment.

Dewhurst has greatly damaged his own image with his lying attack ads on Cruz. He had better be prepared to lose his next race for LG, if he decides to run again.

Now he’s got one running accusing Cruz of protecting a pedophile. Sheesh. Whoever is running his campaign is pathetic.
