A Broward County woman was sentenced Thursday to nearly six years in prison for stealing the identities of U.S. Marines and others in a tax-refund scam designed to trick the Internal Revenue Service into sending her thousands of dollars.
Dorothy Boulin, 29, of Coral Springs, plotted with a Marine from North Miami who allegedly supplied her with the stolen IDs of fellow Marines while he was stationed in Afghanistan, according to charges filed in federal court.
(SNIP) According to the charges, Boulin used an electronic IRS number typically issued to legitimate tax preparers on her home computer to file false returns in the names of at least 14 people, including several Marines serving in the U.S. war against the Taliban in Afghanistan. The bogus returns, processed in January with an online tax-filing company called OLT PRO, sought about $54,000 in refunds.

Vile woman. Probably a hero to Obama, though.
There are a lot of scammers down here.
There was (perhaps still is) someone on Craig ‘s list saying they’re a US Marine stationed overseas and they want to buy what you’re selling. They scam people on the shipping arrangements for hundreds of dollars. People should buy and sell local on Craig ‘s.
I could have sworn that headline said “Bearded woman”...
Apparently this vile idiot former Marine was asleep in his classes about what happens to you when you get in trouble with the civilian laws. Unless things have changed, he will go through the civilian process and then be immediately transferred to the custody of the military for their dispensing of military justice. When they are finished with him and his military sentence, he gets to go back to the civilian sentence and they are not concurrent.
He will not make it out of the Brig. Stealing from soldiers, er Marines, in a combat zone is not a very enticing enterprise and usually ends in a punctuation mark for your future.
Well, it is Florida, so you never know. We tend to have the best headlines in the country.
Because of the nefarious nature of the scam, I have a feeling they’re not really a Marine. It’s part of the scam.
Wrong, the NCIS went into his hootch in Afghanistan and found 44 names with all their info. 21 of those 44 names were the ones this twit used to scam the IRS. Hint; reading can be your friend.
I’m referring to the scammers on Craig ‘s list that I mentioned.
