Now that's it's been called a tax, we only need 51 Senators to vote to repeal.

This is becoming more and more doable.

All of the shrieking and despair on this thread is useless at best, and more realistically counterproductive.

Real patriotic Americans understand that our mission is clear and that the time is now.

We defeat every Democrat on the ballot on November 6th, and then we take it from there.

Whiners stand clear.

Let your betters save the Republic without your interference.

No, you need 67 to override a veto; won’t happen. People love their liberal senators to “protect” them from the “interests”.

Actually, can’t use reconciliation on the individual mandate because it doesn’t meet other tests. Trust me, reconciliation on this goes nowhere.

My concern is that obamacare seems to be “having it both ways” if you will. It is a tax, when it needs to be a tax to be considered constitutional and it is not a tax, when being considered a tax would be detrimental to it.

You can rest assured that if we had less than 60 votes to repeal, it would, for the purposes of that vote, not be considered a tax.

Not so fast! Repealing the mandate might be possible if the GOP has 51 senate votes AND the guts to do it in the face of network news and political ads showing poor people suffering and dying, AND Romney didn't veto it, but I think you would need 60 senate votes to overturn the parts about Pre-existing conditions, under 26 covered, birth control and breast X-rays, can't charge different rates based on sex.

But that’s not enough to override a veto, as I’m sure someone else has said farther along in the thread.
