You are right it is coercive. But all taxes are. Theoretically Congress can pass, and the president can sign, a 99 percent income tax tomorrow. What stops them isn’t the SCOTUS - it is US.
Does anyone here know exactly how much of a tax must be paid by those who refuse to buy health insurance?

Thats where the state come in. You know the “concept” of Individual sovereingty blah blah blah...
But you can avoid paying income tax by not making any income. I can’t think of another tax that you MUST pay or be jailed. It might as well be a tax on breathing.
