I just relocated from the People’s Republic of Californistan to Louisiana, USA.
Ahhhh Texas... where the skiing is good.
Don’t forget the Franchise Tax— imposed for the privilege of doing business within the state of Texas— on business owners. Lots of people show up here and set up shop without prior knowledge of it. Still, overall, it’s among the least regulated *state* business environments as you’ll find, so if you don’t do business with the Fed govt then you’re not unduly encumbered here by regs, fees, and taxes. Or Kings.
Really like the climate and geography of western North Carolina. Too bad Asheville is such a Lieberal nirvana intrusion on an otherwise beautiful area of the country.
I’m really starting to hate the blowtorch effect of Tx summers.
RE: I just relocated from the Peoples Republic of Californistan to Louisiana, USA.
Aren’t you worried about another Katrina like hurricane? :)
Got that right! The writer of this article is misleading all you good folks in Kalifornia and Nu Yourk. Stay home. Don't be fooled! DO NOT come to TEXAS!
RE: No state in the Union escapes nutso weather.
Ever considered the nutso state of Hawaii? ( where birth certificates can be forged, but the weather is perfect all year round? )
And Houston is worse than Dallas re humidity. Lived there 26 years and liked lots of things about it, but the weather wasn’t one of them.
Does Hawaii have perfect weather? I blanch at the thought of those sunami warnings!
I will refrain from writing about the current occupant...
It’s too bad about Asheville. If Thomas Wolfe came back, he’d never stop throwing up.
But the weather seems delightful. All that good mountain air. Of course, Tom’s father used to say sarcastically: The sunny South!
And it is 104* today.
“Just leave your liberal politics at home.
There it is. I moved from a neighboring state in the early 70s.
The culture here is definitely different. More rugged-individualism and more personal responsibility. One has to change one’s thinking to be successful here.
God bless Texas and all that, but the heat and humidity here in Virginia is hellish enough....I sure don’t want to move from the frying pan into the fire!
As a born-and-bred Texan, I should point out to the author that it’s “y’all” not “ya’ll”.
As for so many people moving here... I don’t mind... but why do they all have to drive slow in the fast lane?
(I’m just guessing that it’s the Yankees since true Texans know to get out of the way.)
“four lefist friends”
There’s your mistake. As soon as I find out that somone is leftist I drop them like hot potatoes.
Please remember that they are the enemy. Get rid of them.
You forgot to mention the dust storms. People should really stay away... horrible place...
As a naturalized Texan and refugee from the people republic of Connecticut I second that! My biggest fear is they try and turn Texas into “colliefornyia”
When I was a kid here in California, the local attitude was, “Hi! Welcome to California! Enjoy the great weather! And there are lots of jobs and lots of room here for any and all Americans! Welcome!”
Keep it classy, Texas! Your hatred for your fellow Americans does you proud!
Except for Fort Worth.
