Democrats Fear Obama May Lose

WASHINGTON (AP) — In growing numbers, once-confident Democrats now say President Barack Obama could lose the November election.

--snop--

In 2004, it was the Democrats who had the big money operation on their side. Groups like America Coming Together and the Media Fund raised about $200 million to help John Kerry's presidential campaign with grass-roots organizing and advertising. But the donors who helped that effort — financier George Soros, film producer and donor to liberal causes Steve Bing and billionaire Peter Lewis -- have vastly reduced their political participation or stayed away all together this time...

--snop--

But five months from Election Day, several national polls show Obama and Romney locked in a tight race, as voters vent their frustrations over the nation's economic woes. May figures showed that employers created a meager 69,000 jobs and the jobless rate ticked up to 8.2 percent. And this week, the Federal Reserve released data showing that median family net worth shrank in 2010 to levels not seen since 1992 after adjusting for inflation...

"... former Clinton adviser James Carville this week wrote that Obama's efforts to convince voters that economic conditions are moving in the right direction aren't swaying people."

Mostly because people can check their 410K and see that economic conditions aren't moving in the right direction.

Beware of the October surprise.
In addition, look for a ratcheting up of “Bush’s Fault”.

“look for a ratcheting up of “Bush’s Fault””

You really think that that is going to turn any heads at this juncture? I don’t, and I believe that it’s not going to even be a close election. Obama is asking people who are broke and/or out of work to double down on his recipe. It just isn’t going to happen.

I guess obamma is just not to the task of overcoming all the evil that Bush did. He has had 3 1/2 years so far to do this and we are much worse off today than when he started. Bush really did him in! We need someone else to pull us out of this malaise since it is beyond obamma abilities. /s

It’s funny, but I know a number of die-hard Democrats, folks who voted for Gore, Kerry, etc. who cannot bear the thought of a second Obama term. I know that’s not a scientific sample, but I’m willing to bet in more than a few cases, the more appropriate story headline would be Democrats HOPING Obama may lose.

Democrats must get Obama off the ticket and boost out the Progressive Socialist or go down to a stunning defeat. Now, I am all for a 20 year GOP rule —as long as the Tea Party can keep Government low. The Federal Budget needs to be controlled and the Unions broken. I fear that because of Obama’s weakness Russia and China and Iran will start to push for more influence in the world. We are in for some hard times.

Democrats are getting scared. When they get scared, they say many hurtful, insensitive things, that they later might one day regret if they don’t work, but which will be elevated to absolute truth if they do. Should we start a betting pool on when the first national-level Dem compares Romney or his future running mate to a Nazi?

You are right, this election no doubt will be decided on jobs and the economy, barring an October surprise, but there are large issues at stake.

Mitt Romney is proving to be a technician who exceeds most expectations in his ability to respond quickly and effectively to every assault made by Obama. Thank God. The consequences for conservatism and, therefore, for the nation are too dreary to contemplate if Obama should actually win this election.

If we lose, we lose everything. If Obama loses, the left loses its chance at everything for a season. The ultimate aim of Obama and his crowd is to fundamentally transform the American constitutional republic into a political entity unrecognizable by anyone who claims his legacy as an American. Every election victory attained by the left moves the political center of gravity two steps to the left. Every election victory attained by the right moves the political center of gravity one half step to the right. Eventually, the secular drift of accumulated elections transforms America into something alien and there is no going back.

At that point we will have heard the final answer of history to the question posed by the woman to Franklin on leaving the constitutional convention about the nature of the government the founders had created, "a Republic, madam, -if you can keep it."

If the image of a expanding glacier comes to mind, the image of a rising tide should also come to mind when one considers that the glacial drift of the political center of the country is borne on a flood of immigration. If the Republicans managed to stage a miraculous comeback after 2008 it will only be because Obama stumbled in overreach. The secular trends remain just as daunting and will prove just as difficult to overcome in 2016 as they were in 2008.

All this is by way of saying that it is good because it is indispensable that our technician win this election but it is necessary that Obamaism be exposed and repudiated in order to actually turn back history. Anything less means that the election of 2012 is nothing more than a tactical victory, a whistle stop on the track stretching to totalitarianism.

If we merely win this election and consider it only a mandate to tinker with our economic engine, we will ease back into our course of steady retreat which is brought us to the point in which America would elect a Manchurian Marxist. The entire federal structure from the conduct of elections to the mechanics of government and onto the very demographics of the electorate must be transformed according to conservative values. But more than that, Romney owes a duty to history and the history of his administration to win a mandate to be more than a mechanic who fixed the economic engine. He owes history a duty to expose Obama and repudiate Obama. All that Obama stands for should be repudiated. Without the mandate we will have moved but one half step.

We need a fundamental transformation of our own. Newt might have given it to us, but will Mitt?

I agree with you; I’ve been afraid to feel any optimism about this, and still think there can be some PR stunts late in the game for Obama, but at this point I don’t know how people can expect anything better in the near future if Obama stays in office.

At this point there is nothing “historic” or “groundbreaking”; any “accomplishments” of his really pertain to a small group of people (homosexuals, communists). His detachment from the problems of average Americans is startling; he lacks BJ Clinton’s touch, whereby people really felt Clinton knew what they were going through.

I believe enough of the US public is smarter than that so that he loses in an electoral landslide. It may still be amazing how many people vote for him, but, I see a trouncing of historic proportions. He’s failed, why not?

No doubt they'll try that, but it won't work. The biggest complaint about Mittens is he's a RINO, he started RomneyCare and he's not a real conservative. Now Hussein's campaign is trying to scare people off about this big bad conservative Romney? I don't think so.

As usual Axelgrease and the rest of the brain trust trying to reelect this clown are throwing $h_t against the wall and seeing if it will stick.

I think we'll see a landslide in Nov. If that happens the question will be, do we get another 2010 in congress and in the states. If so, we have a chance. Mittens is a moderate, with progressive tendencies but he's a political whore (pardon my language). If he sees a conservative wind blowing out of congress, he'll play along, Otherwise, his natural progressive tendencies will take over. In short, he's a progressive, but not a "true believer" like Hussein. He's not willing to go down if he sees the majority is opposed to big government (kind of like Clinton , minus the sleaze)

Only chance Obama has to win this , is to turn Mitt into the Boogeyman..Expect a barrage of negative ads against him the likes of which we’ve never seen.

I’m pretty confident that Romney wont lay down like McCain did, and will fire back at every turn..I wasnt crazy about him, but the one thing I always talked about with my friends and family, was how ferocious Mitt was in going after the other GOP candidates, and took that as a positive sign of how he would be vs Obama.

I'd submit that most anyone who understood the mewling marxist in 2008 played economic "duck and cover" the past 4 years.

If a "President Romney" enacts immediate business friendly reform and private tax relief along with government downsizing the American economy would resound with an Earth shattering boom in short order.

If romney behaves as a fiscal conservative and keeps his liberal social policies buried, where they should be, he would become an American hero.

Otherwise, there won't be anyone who will stand by him if he screws up like obama.
