The media was very hard on Nixon. IMO it is because he absolutely blasted McGovern out of the saddle in the 1972 elections. Also, Nixon wanted to militarily win the war in Vietnam.

Then, as now, the media was the propaganda arm of the DNC. The libs did everything they could to destroy him. As they rewrite history he has become their political antichrist and no one challenges the image anymore.

The left also never got over Nixon’s nailing of Alger Hiss during the HUAC days. It became a religious tenet to them to despise and punish Nixon for this(perhaps more for that than for Watergate or Vietnam) despite his being relatively liberal for a Republican.

Good point but the real reason the ‘media’ was so hard on Nixon was his anti-communist actions in the 1950’s. They showed their true colors by coming after him using the Watergate ‘scandal’ in the ‘70s. Nixon gained his first term in the House by beating a woman named Helen Gahagan Douglas, who Nixon described as the ‘pink lady’...not really a red, mind you, just pink, almost a red...the ‘media’ never forgave him.
This is not to say Watergate wasn’t a serious matter, but look at what some of these other tools (Kennedy, Johnson, Clinton, Obama) have gotten away with, with hardly a peep out of the ‘media’...just follow the dots.
