Car Wreck at the White House ("Creeping sense that the bottom has fallen out...no second term")
The Washington Post ^ | Monday, June 11, 2012 | Dana Milbank

Posted on 06/11/2012 8:41:59 PM PDT by kristinn

It has been a Junius Horribilis for President Obama.

Job growth has stalled, the Democrats have been humiliated in Wisconsin, the attorney general is facing a contempt-of-Congress citation, talks with Pakistan have broken down, Bill Clinton is contradicting Obama, Mitt Romney is outraising him, Democrats and Republicans alike are complaining about a “cascade” of national-security leaks from his administration, and he is now on record as saying that the “private sector is doing fine.”

Could it get any worse?

Early Monday morning, Obama learned that it could. His aides delivered the news to him that his commerce secretary had been cited for a felony hit-and-run after allegedly crashing his car three times over the weekend. In one incident, the previously obscure Cabinet officer apparently rear-ended a Buick, spoke to the car’s occupants, then hit the vehicle again as he left.

SNIP

For the White House, it was just the latest entry in the when-it-rains-it-pours ledger. This has been one of the worst stretches of the Obama presidency. In Washington, there is a creeping sense that the bottom has fallen out and that there may be no second term. Privately, senior Obama advisers say they are no longer expecting much economic improvement before the election.

Carney had the unenviable task of confronting the full arsenal of gloom at Monday afternoon’s briefing.

The AP asked about the president’s unfortunate private-sector-is-fine remark. The Reuters correspondent asked about the economic “head winds” from Europe. Ed Henry of Fox News Channel asked about the looming contempt-of-Congress vote against Attorney General Eric Holder. Margaret Talev of Bloomberg News asked about the Supreme Court striking down Obamacare. Norah O’Donnell of CBS News asked about calls for a special prosecutor to probe leaks. Victoria Jones of Talk Radio News asked about the stalled talks with Pakistan.

The guy has been a disaster all along but it’s only now that the country has stopped watching American Idol and Dancing with Stars to look around and see what’s what.

They're starting to feel the pain of what BO has done to this country. Shiny pretty things on TV aren't a sufficient distraction anymore.

As bad as it might be for Obama now, imagine how bad it seemed for Lincoln in early June 1864.

Didn’t stop Zero from Golfing.

He didn’t have to comment on Fast and Furious.

He didn’t have to respond to any questions (in any meaningful manner) about Security Leaks

I’m just a casual observer. (”Reporters need to do their job’s”) or so says the WH Spokesperson.

I can’t wait till they do, so I observe

He wasn't a “Law Professor”, he was simply a guest Lecturer due to his Affirmative Action stint heading the Harvard Law Review.

That's just another Urban Obama Myth, like his great (phantom) Academic Record that nobody has ever seen.

If this country was sane, Mitt Romney would be the Democrat nominee, a real conservative would be the Republican nominee and Zer0 would be a laughing stock.

it’s like the rest of the country is just now tuning in and finally figuring it out.

the "rest of the country" figured it out in 2010.

It's the media who is just now admitting it.

I got an “A” in Beginning Acting for playing that part ...

worst thing is, anytime it’s mentioned, I go into character ...

“You got Trouble my friend ... right here in River City! Trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for POOL”

Almost 40 years ago and I still am adored (in my mind) by all of those lovely teenage girls (now in their late 50’s) and my plan was a success!

It was the only reason I took the Class because it was mostly Girls

I tend to agree with you. How did Romney ever manage to win more republican votes in the primaries than Santorum and Newt, I can not figure out.

You are right of course. I was just giving him the best possible background, which is still not near enough to be the chief executive chef much less POTUS.

November will tell us if the critical mass of fools has been reached, and if we’ll become Argentina, the fourth biggest economy on the planet before Peron, since and now a Third World basket case incapable of overcoming the peronist disaster, despite the military coups, multiple reforms, revolts, and so on.

Sounds like WaPo wants us to feel sorry for poor Obama, who keeps getting dealt a tough hand. This article is careful to not blame him for anything... it just lists the problems on his plate. Don’t be fooled.

Anybody remember Carter’s last year in the White House? Everything was going wrong for him; double digit interest rates, American hostages in Iran, Soviets Invasion of Afghanistan, US Boycott of the Olympics, etc. What did ol Jimmy do? He put himself under house arrest and refused to leave the White House? Did him a lot of good didn’t it? I would like to see Obama go on a continuous vacation and take the family with him. No matter how much it cost it would be worth it if he couldn’t continue to damage the economy and spend money that isn’t there. Even if he went and played golf everyday he would be distracted from doing more damage to the country.

The headline at The Post has been changed from the original "Car Wreck..." to "Pileup at the White House."

Pile up is more like it!

If obamacare is overturned we are going to party like it’s 1776!

I would hold off on that party. You do realize the the 265,000+ bureaucrats that are working daily to implement Obamacare will NOT stop if it is overturned?

The RINOs and the evil left will make sure we have "some kind" of government run healthcare.

The power that Obamacare brings to D.C. is something that the elites in both parties will not let go of easily.

Does anyone honestly believe that the 265,000+ bureaucratic parasites will suddenly be out of a job, or will stop writing sadistic regulations?

Karma is a bitch.

I hope that Sheriff Joe's boys find out that his Hawaii Birth Certificate is a complex cover-up and the main stream media finally decides to run with it.
