Commerce Secretary accused in hit-and-run
By Andrew Blankstein | 12:22 a.m.
Authorities are investigating a series of traffic collisions in the San Gabriel Valley involving U.S. Secretary of Commerce John Bryson, authorities said Saturday.
Bryson was found unconscious in his vehicle and has been hospitalized, officials said.
He was cited for felony hit-and-run but not booked.

This whole regime is a criminal enterprise.
This is yet another cherry on the Obama fail cake. I don't like to presume God, but if I had to guess, I'd say that they have angered God greatly.
What Party is he from? /s/
Coincidence that the LGBT Pride parade was on the SAME DAY as Bryson’s alleged semen overdose in Los Angeles?
Bush’s fault!
He was the CEO for So Cal Edison for 18 years! That figures. But this is a weird story. Hypnosis?!
It is possible that he is diabetic and had a diabetic incident. My dad finally came to live with us after his 5th or 6th incident in the car. He would be found on the side of the road, stopped, and one time he pulled into a parking space and rolled up to and touched the wall of the building. He was unconscious and the car was still running. He also passed out sitting on a bench one time, and I was called to the hospital where they sent him.
Diabetics can be mistaken for being intoxicated, but it is a blood sugar issue.
He was cited for felony hit-and-run but not booked.
And certainly he was tested for drugs and alcohol.
As usual the weasels protecting their own.
It is quite true, what you say about diabetics. Of course he could’ve been intoxicated. We’ve grown to expect out-of controlabove the law behavior form this admin.
Banner on CBS: BREAKING Commerce Dept: Sec. Bryson suffered “seizure” in connection with LA crashes
nah something wrong here, so we are to believe, he suffered a seizure, drove off, crashed the car again into the car, then drove off again and crashed again 5 minutes later elsewhere.
Why not get out of the car and call for help or an ambulance, not drive off.....that is trying to get away.
Something smells here.
Riiiiiiiight.
Not only that, he got out and spoke with the people in the first car he hit. Seizure my butt...
Axelrod gets caught flat footed when asked about the accident on CBS Morning News. Ten minutes after the interview ends, the statement is released that the commerce secretary suffered a seizure.
Not related at all.
It could also be a seizure resulting form a lethal brain tumor. Remember the late Robert Novak, who had a clean driving record and inexplicably struck a pedestrian in DC. Turned out he had a seizure caused by the glioblastoma that eventually killed him. Right now Mr. Bryson might well beat the felony charge because he has a far worse problem than any felony prosecution.
What is the Secretary of Commerce doing without staff and security? Between export controls, foreign trade regulation, the NOAA, and the NTIA the Secretary of Commerce has 24-7 emergency and national security responsibility and kidnap vulnerability.
seemed ok enough to walk out of the hospital and fly home the next day.
He knows too much.
Since he seemed to be in and then out of consciousness I’d guess these were trans-ischemic attacks (TIA’s) sometimes called mini-strokes.
Diabetes could be right, but it seems his consciousness would ‘waver’ and he would appear to the causal observer to be drunk... which we don’t have here?
It doesn’t look like any criminal charges are going to stick on this one.
Cell phone texting while driving maybe?
‘Texting’ could explain the first but not the second accident? The police didn’t seem to think distraction of that sort was a factor. It does fit perfectly what would happen with a series of TIA’s (they often come in waves). As he was walking back to his car from the first accident, he most likely had another attack. He probably didn’t even remember the first as he barreled off to the second one. Mind is really collective memory. You can’t form or hold memory if your blood supply to the brain is choked off, even transiently. The fact he got out of the car at the first accident scene shows he did not have much of a consciousness of guilt or a disposition to avoid responsibility.
After all, if a member of Obama's Politburo cannot master the feat of safely driving a car, it is far beyond the capabilities of the simple minded American proletariat.
It IS entirely possible to suffer multiple seizures in a short time span have no memory of anything that occurred before or during the incident. For example, it is not overly strange to have a seizure while driving get into accident, and when the seizure is over have no memory of the seizure and simply think you got into accident because of driver error.
Perhaps he was intoxicated, but honestly, it’s not really difficult for me to believe he had multiple seizures likely stemming from a brain tumor of some sort, which I would be willing to guess will be revealed in the next 48 hours after the cat scans.
The seizure thing happened to a friend of mine. He was accused of drug use but the tests came back and showed he had a mild form of epilepsy. Now he really is on drugs but is back to normal and driving again.
True. I was thinking they were using the term ‘seizure’ generically. There was no mention of a history of epilepsy. What they will do most likely is a series of neurological tests. Both TIA’s and idiosyncratic epilepsy would not necessarily show up on these sorts of tests (EEG, neuro-imaging etc) but might be inferred from a complete history.
I’ve had clinical experience working with both stroke and epilepsy patients. That has been enough experience to know that I’m just pulling all of this out of my a##.
As to police covering for the muckety-mucks? Possibly true, but I tend to go with Tom Wolf in ‘Bonfire of the Vanities.’ There is nothing a DA loves to get a hold of more than “The Great White Defendant.” Careers are made on such cases.
Yup, I'm sure this is standard procedure for regular folks too. < /S >
You don’t need to post a ‘not’ for that second sentence. I know what you meant. Me too, seen plenty of it. I was working a doctor’s offcie one time when a very heavy woman had a storke in the exam room next to the one we were in. She fell heavily back against the wall separating the two rooms, but when we rushed into her room she was again sitting erect on the exam table with a blank look. She suffered a final CHF while we were looking right at her! Man she was heavy when she tilted forward and had to be supported from falling face first onto the floor. I also watched my Mother have TIAs while speaking and years before my father had one while driving me and him from the hardware store. The car began to slow while he was staring straight ahead and I was talking. I noticed the slowing and spoke to him directly, repeating my question of why we were slowing down. He ‘came to’ just as I was finishing the repeat and he jerked the car to the right to try and take the off ramp we were passing. The car bumped over the grassy separate and back onto pavement on the down ramp. Decades ago, Docotr Dampere and his family were hit head on by a car which came up the off ramp, driven by a guy suffering a TIA and massive confusion. The TIA victim lived for a few days after the accident byt die of a massive stroke while still hospitalized, IIRC.
Bryson is the Darth Vader of energy market manipulation.
My main question here is whether this guy had a history of epileptic type events, and should he have been driving in the first place.
From the officers observations as well as the people who were involved and witnesses of the event, it seems this guy was quite out of it.
If he had been complying with the law, and this happened anyway, then it would seem to me that this was an unavoidable event without blame on the Commerce Secretary.
From this moment, his license should be forfeit. This could have turned out much worse.
If there was a prior history and this guy received special treatment in violation of normal safety measures, or if he drove without being approved to drive, I would toss the book at him.
His brain is addled by 60+ years of left-wing thought
Yep, verah verah strange. Not even one security agent - no one? Cited for two hit and runs, but not arrested? Unconscious in car, but not tested for alcohol or drugs? Suuuuure...
Or WAS he kidnapped, shot up with drugs, debriefed for all sorts of tasty info, and then dumped back on the street in his car, where he drove around basically out of his mind and running into things until he finally passed out?
The Obama administration may have been frantically looking for this guy before the police call came in, and now they're trying to whistle their way out of it.
12:22 AM-—If he knew he had a health issue wouldn’t you think he’d keep a more regular schedule? As commerce secty he probably qualifies for a driver. In any case being dopey doesn’t erase the hit-and-run.
“Unconcious, 2 hit-and-run collisions and not intoxicated? Something smells here.”
Check what is in the trunk!
Nice job describing a drunk——it ain’t complicated.
This man was as drunk as a skunk..
Comically, on the way home I heard professional Obama apologist Ann Compton refer to felony hit-and-run as “a series of fender benders.”
The media is just as complicit as the Marxists destroying the country.
from 5 PM los angeles time to now, and the drug tests have not come back yet? hmmmm???????
obommie was on golf course when bryson got the felony 5 pm charge. soetoro was notified monday morning after he took his crap.
He’s a gd drunkard. I’ll bet anybody. Someone else had it right when they said this administration is one big rotten criminal enterprise from top to bottom, protecting it’s own. What gets me and should concern everyone is how easily it seems to intimidate almost any local police department into backing off when one of the b***ards does something that would send anyone else straight to the slammer.
And I’m no doctor, but those advancing diabetes as a possible cause of his drunken criminal behavior, answer me this: In almost every case, if not in all of them, type II diabetes can be resolved by diet and exercise. Does this man look like he needs to lose weight? They’re asking us to believe that he had sudden onset type 2 diabetes, with NO HISTORY or mention of it anywhere prior to this incident, and the man isn’t even one lousy ounce overweight??? Please. Let’s outgrow the fairy tales. This administration and the democrat party is a stinking criminal enterprise, top to bottom, through and through. We need to recognize that and quit fooling ourselves or we’ll never be able to fix the problem. Seizures? Please. They’re LTFAO at our credulity.
Hes a gd drunkard...
Teddy II
will the
waitress sandwhich be next.
Yes, but it was pretty much the same with Bob Novak after he inexplicably struck a pedestrian. That’s why I’m not yet joining in the attack on this guy.
Diabetes, TIAs, and undiagnosed brain tumors do happen. They’re not common, but they happen often enough that most people who have spent much time around law enforcement have dealt with somebody they were absolutely sure was drunk who turned out to have a serious medical problem.
The lab results will give more info. Let’s hold our fire until we know more. But even lab results won’t give the needed info if he has a tumor, other than showing that he was or was not intoxicated.
BTW, in my community, full lab results typically take a month to a month and a half to get back. I suspect they’ll be done more quickly in this case, but it’s not fair to yell that they haven’t yet show up.
