You are probably correct. In 721 BC the ten northern tribes of Israel were dispersed to all the nations as part of their judgment for breaking covenant with Yahweh. Those Israelites were scattered to the New World via the Phoenician trade. These Israelites/Phoenicians mixed with the natives and that is where the genetic line comes from. Have you gone to the site Joes and Jews on the web. It's an interesting site about the subject of the lost tribe of Israel, with loads of info and related items. It's a good site to get lost in (notice the pun). It doesn't espouse "British Israelism", which I have found to be off the track of truth.

This subject is actually dear to my heart, because as I read, especially The Old Testament, it comes up unbelievably often.

I had zero information or knowledge about lost tribes the night The LORD saved me. The LORD clearly indicated to me that Joseph was important to me during my salvation experience and I hardly knew anything about Joseph. I later came to realize that He was showing me that I am of the tribe of Joseph. That is why I began to be really interested in this subject.

I read this thread to see who the first person to have a clue as to what happened would post. The Phoenicians and the Carthaginians (a little later) are key to the populating of remote areas with ancient Middle Eastern bloodlines.
