Marion Barry: I misspoke when I said 'Polacks'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- D.C. Councilmember Marion Barry says he misspoke when he referred to the Polish community with the disparaging term "Polacks."

Barry made the remark when he was meeting with Asian-Americans.

I'm beating up on Barry because he's the subject of the current thread.

If the subject of the current thread were the gross misconduct of the PG County Council, or the PG County Police, or the Glorious Peoples Democratic Republic of Maryland, I'd beat up on them, instead. And do so from a first hand perspective. Which you lack.

As is, the subject is that abject moron Barry, who was and is indefensible, despite your pathetic attempts to deflect blame from his manifest inability to accomplish anything useful.

Barry was merely an employee. The Constitution says Congress runs the District ~ Congress failed

The brainless ones in the District bitched and whined and moaned and blathered about "oppression" ... so Congress gave them Home Rule.

And they screwed it up so severely, and so completely, and so disgracefully to the Nation as a whole that Congress finally had to step in and put a stop to it.

Don't give me any rot about "taxation without representation", and don't whine about the District not being allowed to govern itself. The District proved, by experiment, that it is UNABLE to govern itself.

First, Marion doesn’t have a single Pole in his district....so he doesn’t have to worry much about negativity over the comments. Second, Marion can pretty much just keep running for city council and winning....as long as he can breathe. Finally, if he ever did retire....what the heck would the guy do? I seem to think our citizens both American and Canadian of polish descent would not get worked up about it. Of course the press, or much of it, appears to be the arbiter of whether the general public get worked up. Weaklings? I think NOT. The Polish people are among the strongest in the world, given the hell they’ve endured. I say this because of history, and not because I’m 100% Polish. All eight of my great grandparents were born in Poland. My father, is one of the biggest Polish joke tellers out there, but was raised before political correctness.
