LYNCHBURG, Va. Evangelical leaders praised Mitt Romneys speech today at Liberty University, saying that the Mormon candidate was right to acknowledge his religious differences with other Christian voters.
It was an acknowledgment that the issues that social conservatives and evangelicals care about are important issues to Gov. Romney and as he sees them [as] part of a successful economic platform for the country, said Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.
Perkins added that there wasnt anything the presumptive GOP presidential nominee who many evangelical voters regarded with skepticism during the primary while backing Rick Santorum should have done differently. And he pointed to the huge opportunity created for Romney by President Barack Obamas endorsement of same-sex marriage this week (Romney opposes gay marriage).
I think he touched on the key issues that are important to social conservatives. He mentioned Rick Santorum and Ricks emphasis and the need to have the family and the ties to economic success. (See also: 10 essential facts about Liberty U.)
Regarding Romneys acknowledgement that Mormonism differs from other Christian faiths in certain ways, Perkins said the candidate was correct to tackle the issue.
That was what he needed to do, was to acknowledge that there are theological differences between him and evangelicals, Perkins said.

A good stock to purchase ? How about a good tip, go to work
From your response I don’t think you are the person I would go to for getting up to speed as to any different societal differences between the people of the Mayflower Compact and the people of the colonies that formed our Constitution. It is haughtily presumptuous for anyone to declare my vote. I have since WWII service earned the right for my private vote.
I too over many years have associated with people of the Mormon faith and as intended to indicate I found them very sociable. I also doubt that I need a Joseph Smith or a Mohammad to be an intermediate between me and my God. Many years ago I was led to Jesus Christ as the light to eternity i.e. God. I also as a personal thing/belief believe that I am comfortable with a feeling Jesus was of God as there is a Holy Spirit of God. With all this said I take Jesus at his words of ‘Render onto Ceaser the things of Ceaser and unto God those things that are of God’. I take it that even Jesus allowed for human societal needs and differences.
My post 73 looks fine.
Post 73:
“So Christians have to accept Hinduism and Scientology as Christian religions, all religions and cults are Christian, or at least so, if they want to claim it?”
You dont accept the Catholic church, the Baptists, the Methodists, the Greek Orthodox, the Lutherans, and so on when they all agree that Mormonism is not a Christian religion?”

Mitt Romney, Bishop and Mormon leader will be carrying the biblical marriage argument for all that make up opposition to the left, traditional America, the bible based “religious right” and all that make up social conservatism and resistance to the homosexual agenda of redefining marriage from the biblical definition of “One Man One Woman”.
Yet he is a member of, a leader in, his family is royalty and original founders of, their own religion that did redefine marriage and discarded the “One Man One Woman” traditional definition of marriage, it was a foundation for the religion that he prominently represents and speaks for, and while bending to the force and power of the US government, they still revert back to that redefinition after death.
Is this yet another area where Mitt Romney representing the American conservative electorate is bizarre beyond words?
Listened to 3 callers - one R; one D and one I.
All three praised the speech....the D said he hadn't voted for a R since Reagan but now intended to vote for Romney.
Time to put differences aside and support him....and pray for his election and that God will give him the strength to turn the country from the disastrous path it is on today.
You fail to answer the question, so I will ask it more clearly.
How can you deny that a man who publicly accepts Christ is a Christian?
You are not an acceptable authority. No organization is an acceptable authority. Christ himself is the only acceptable authority, and you would do well to not attempt to usurp His authority. See to your own house, and do not try to remove the mote from your neighbor’s eye.
You keep ignoring the post, and putting up straw dogs.
Christian churches all agree, I think the Christian world must collectively know something about Christianity.
I would say that YOU “are not an acceptable authority”, what arrogance you display.
“You dont accept the Catholic church, the Baptists, the Methodists, the Greek Orthodox, the Lutherans, and so on when they all agree that Mormonism is not a Christian religion?
Christianity is monotheistic. Mormonism is polytheistic.
QED. The only skill needed to judge between 'em is the ability to count past one.
It most certainly DOES!!!
We Churches of the United States have a message of hope for a fearful time.
Just as the churches responded to the harshness of early 20th Century industrialization with a prophetic Social Creed in 1908, so in our era of globalization we offer a vision of a society that shares more and consumes less, seeks compassion over suspicion and equality over domination, and finds security in joined hands rather than massed arms.
Inspired by Isaiahs vision of a peaceable kingdom, we honor the dignity of every person and the intrinsic value of every creature, and pray and work for the day when none labor in vain or bear children for calamity (Isaiah 65:23). We do so as disciples of the One who came that all may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10), and stand in solidarity with Christians and with all who strive for justice around the globe.
In faith, responding to our Creator, we celebrate the full humanity of each woman, man, and child, all created in the divine image as individuals of infinite worth, by working for:
Full civil, political and economic rights for women and men of all races.
Abolition of forced labor, human trafficking, and the exploitation of children.
Employment for all, at a family-sustaining living wage, with equal pay for comparable work.
The rights of workers to organize, and to share in workplace decisions and productivity growth.
Protection from dangerous working conditions, with time and benefits to enable full family life.
A system of criminal rehabilitation, based on restorative justice and an end to the death penalty.
In the love incarnate in Jesus, despite the worlds sufferings and evils, we honor the deep connections within our human family and seek to awaken a new spirit of community, by working for:
Abatement of hunger and poverty, and enactment of policies benefiting the most vulnerable.
High quality public education for all and universal, affordable and accessible healthcare.
An effective program of social security during sickness, disability and old age.
Tax and budget policies that reduce disparities between rich and poor, strengthen democracy, and provide greater opportunity for everyone within the common good.
Just immigration policies that protect family unity, safeguard workers rights, require employer accountability, and foster international cooperation.
Sustainable communities marked by affordable housing, access to good jobs, and public safety.
Public service as a high vocation, with real limits on the power of private interests in politics.
In hope sustained by the Holy Spirit, we pledge to be peacemakers in the world and stewards of Gods good creation, by working for:
Adoption of simpler lifestyles for those who have enough; grace over greed in economic life.
Access for all to clean air and water and healthy food, through wise care of land and technology.
Sustainable use of earths resources, promoting alternative energy sources and public transportation with binding covenants to reduce global warming and protect populations most affected.
Equitable global trade and aid that protects local economies, cultures and livelihoods.
Peacemaking through multilateral diplomacy rather than unilateral force, the abolition of torture, and a strengthening of the United Nations and the rule of international law.
Nuclear disarmament and redirection of military spending to more peaceful and productive uses.
Cooperation and dialogue for peace and environmental justice among the worlds religions.
Weindividual Christians and churchescommit ourselves to a culture of peace and freedom that embraces non-violence, nurtures character, treasures the environment, and builds community, rooted in a spirituality of inner growth with outward action. We make this commitment togetheras members of Christs body, led by the one Spirittrusting in the God who makes all things new.
So what?
SO WHAT!!!???
It makes them DECEivED at best: LIARs at worst!
Peddle this crap high over Salt Lake City!!
The HYPOCRITs (see #135) need to hear YOUR point of veiw, revisited:
The FUNDAMENTALIST LDS folks can believe whatever they want. It doesnt affect me or you what they believe. So what if they claim to be Mormons ?
Then you'd best strap yourself in tightly; as it is going to be a WILD ride!
We ANTIs (as we are lovingly called) - the Flying Inmen - will be posting LOTS of stuff from Official MORMON Sources.
MORMONs will moan, cry, wail and complain that it is Out-Of-Context, Not-Scripture, No-Longer-Pertainent or some such.
We will give them PLENTY of rope chances to state THEIR case: use all the MORMON sources they like, to show where we are...
1. Wrong
2. Have lied
3. Come to improper conclusions.
(You may have seen some of this already in this thread.)
Just WAIT until the next WOODWARD gets hold of it all!
Matthew 16:17
Sorry Dude!
I can only afford to reward one ephiphany a day; and you have come in third!!
Try again tomorrow!!!
(Get up early, to beat out Binger...)
Go on; I'm WAY worse than that: for I defy the very GODs of mormonISM!!!
Oh; we can all see that...
“Nonetheless, Romney has been pouring money into the Republican satellite conservative organizations since before the last presidential election. Including Perkins organizations.”
Can you prove this charge? That is not a light charge to make against such established, credible national organizations.
You should want credit for holding such information, if you do, what with you runnin for potus and all. You could get some real media coverage, maybe even a taste of credibility.
Put your stuff out.
Because I weep; along with the CREATOR of the universe; when yet another of His creatures is seduced and drug away; hook in jaw; to the dank underworld of MORMONism.
You can choose to believe whatever you want.
Thanks for your blessing. I'll do just that.
