Romney backs away from gay adoptions [Friday night, after endorsing Thursday]

(CBS News) Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Friday backed away from his support of adoptions by same-sex couples, saying that he simply "acknowledges" the legality of such adoptions in many states.

A day earlier, Romney, in an interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto, had indicated that while he does not support same-sex marriage, he considers the adoption of children by same-sex couples a "right."

He said on Thursday: "And if two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship, or even to adopt a child -- in my state individuals of the same sex were able to adopt children. In my view, that's something that people have a right to do. But to call that marriage is something that in my view is a departure from the real meaning of that word."

But then on Friday, he was asked, in an interview with CBS' WBTV in Charlotte, N.C., how his opposition to same-sex marriage "squared" with his support for gay adoptions. Romney told anchor Paul Cameron, "Well actually I think all states but one allow gay adoption, so that's a position which has been decided by most of the state legislators, including the one in my state some time ago. So I simply acknowledge the fact that gay adoption is legal in all states but one."

Romney didn’t help Catholic agencies in Massachusetts
who saw the evil of sodomite adoption. He could of and
didn’t.

Important, the question was asked, so you’re for sodomy sometimes when it involves children but not marriage?

I would rather try to influence Romney to change his socalist tendencies, rather than trying to influence or change a commie pig like 0dumb0 who would have no incentive whatsover to modify or change his evil agenda.

If Romney gets the nomination and somehow wins, which is very doubtful, it will be attributed to the fact that he is a liberal Republican and a would-be socialist. That means the GOP and Romney will ignore people like you and me even more.

Unfortunately, the GOP is counting on people like you who are gullible enough to believe you can influence him.

You'll support him now with this misguided hope that you can influence him, and then in 2016, assuming Romney loses, the GOP will run somebody just as liberal, or more liberal than Romney. In 2016, you'll go along with it, again with the misguided belief that you can influence him (or her).

The pattern will repeat in 2020, and at some point in all of this, the GOP is going to lose Texas - too many damned liberals have moved into this state, the Hispanic population is growing rapidly, and the Democrats nearly have the Hispanics in their pocket.

You know what the GOP will do when they lose Texas? Move even further left. The GOP has been steadily moving farther and farther left, and they will do as long as people like you mistakenly believe you can influence RINOs.

Actually I agree with most of your comments. However you never answered the question of WHAT ABOUT 4 MORE YEARS OF 0DUMB0 UNRESTAINED BY ANYTHING? Certainly not the GOP House led by crybaby droopy eyes deputy dog Boehner or milk toast Rich McConnell. In fact, given the fact that the GOP normally tends to eat its own, rather than go head to head with demoRATs or especially 0dumb0, I would wager that we would see more resistance by the GOP House & a GOP Senate against overreaches by Mitt, as opposed to overreaches by 0dumb0. In those cases, the neutered GOP led by eunech Boehner will cave each & every time to 0dumb0. Whether 0dumb0 is facing a GOP House & GOP Senate, or just a GOP House with demoRAT Senate makes no difference to 0dumb0. He will ramrod through his marxist-communist agenda & policies and Boehner will continue to look even dumber & more inept & incompetent than Joe "stand up Chuck" Biden.

You can vote how you want and I will vote how I want. If 0dumb0 gets re-elected by whatever means, hook or crook, whatever, it will be the final nail in the coffin for the USA. Our country as we currently know it will cease to exist in its current form or constitution between 2012 & 2016. I gotta hold my nose & vote for Mitt.... the alternative of writing in or voting for some other candidate will be a vote for the anti-Christ Devil incarnate 0dumb0! I won't do that.

Romans 1:18-32. A GREAT passage of scripture in exposing the lies of the homo/lesbian deviants. Homosexual & lesbian behavior is an UNNATURAL choice and is the final stage in reprobate behavior as God gives them over to the unrestained deviant lusts of their own behavior. There is nothing natural about it. And I agree with your comments on the dangerous consequences to allow minor children to be adopted by ANY homo or lesbian couple. “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools”.

We took the House in 2010, and we will make more gains in 2012. Obammer will not be "unrestrained". If he is, it's only because Republicans in Congress fail us. If the Republicans fail us under Obama, they would fail us under Romney, since Romney would have the support of both RINOs and Democrats in Congress.

I will not hold my nose and vote for a man who has a proven track record of supporting abortion, gay marriage, socialism, and gun control, which means I will not be supporting Romney or Obama. You can compromise your morals and principles, I will not.

Don't get all high & mighty & self-righteous about it. We're fighting against a demonic evil incarnation of the devil in the form of 0dumb0. You make your choices & I will make mine. I would rather see Willard in the WH than 4 years of unrestrained 0dumb0.

Since Nov 2010 Boehner & the House GOP have been defeated and humiliated on every single intiative of 0dumb0, most predominantly giving another $2.4 Trillion slush fund to 0dumb0 by raising the debt ceiling, allowing 0dumb0 to conduct an illegal, un-authorized war against Libya, allowing 0dumb0's non-recess appointments to stand (McConnell), allowing the stone-walling & obstruction on Fast & Furious, etc. Watching cry-baby, inept, incompetent Boehner go up against the RAT bastard socialist 0dumb0 is like watching a T-ball team of 5 yr olds go up against a major league team. As much as I hate 0dumb0, he makes mince meat of Boehner. Boehner has single handedly squandered every bit of momentum & surge following the Nov 2010 election. Also I personally don't see a lot more House seats flipping over to the GOP and I don't see the Senate flipping over to the GOP either. I would rather see a split, deadlocked legislature House vs Senate, with Romney in the WH rather than 0dumb0 for all the reasons I outlined previously.

I think we've bludgeoned this thread long enough. Time to move onto another post FReeper Friend.

I agree. If there’s one guy who could lose to Obama, it’s Milt. I’m afraid that he is going to go soft on his attacks, so as to be “liked” by the folks who hate him. Much like Juan did in ‘08. It would mean disaster for his campaign. Bob

Obama is bad, nobody is denying that, but you can't just focus on Obama, because the RINOs are just as bad. Look at what happened before Obama - We had a RINO by the name of George W. Bush who increased the size, power, scope and intrusiveness of the federal government like nobody else before him, and he did it with a Republican Congress, all in the name of fighting an endless war on a word, "terror". Romney is even more liberal than Bush, and Romney will also have the support of many Democrats and RINOs, just as Bush did.

The problem is not just Democrats, it's the damned RINOs like Bush and Romney, and as long as you keep supporting them, they'll keep on doing what they are doing.

I can promise you, in 2016, and 2020, you will get even more liberal Republicans if you continue supporting the GOP-e.
