We can’t rely on the media, even the alternative media. Free Republic is announcing a new initiative that gives you a platform. We want to leverage the most powerful minds on the right to make a difference. To do this, we want to bring a new level of activism, the citizen investigator. In the spirit of 1750’s The Pennsylvania Gazette published by Ben Franklin and of Andrew Breitbart.
For the longest time, our primary focus has been on looking at what the media presents and investigating it or discussing it. We have been missing something, YOU!
Jim has created a new news category, “FReeper Editorial” (freepered) for you to post your investigative reports. We are working on getting this promoted to a sidebar and other ways to promote your work but here are the basics.
No longer will quality vanities posted in this topic be frowned upon. Free Republic needs to become about you. We are tired of waiting for the media to come around to us, it is time we take our many, many members and become an army. What was once was your vanity is now your megaphone.
To do this right, we need your help. Initially, we are trying to have this as a smooth launch, and creating the new news category is a baby step towards something big. We ask just a few things.
Stay tuned for more change, enhancements, and opportunities that go along with this. - Your friendly neighborhood Mod Squad with blessings of the big dog himself. We are not quite legion, but we are a bag of kittens.

This idea sounds good.
Did a couple over the years, but they did need a category for the folks who get off on only a couple of categories. This might attract them.

This is specifically for this category. We still have the bloggers category and we are considering easing up on the rules there a little as well. Although ‘pimping’ is always frowned upon.
If you please, make for it a place that is by-default visible on the sidebars....? Otherwise our original content may not get good exposure.....

I hear ya loud and clear. GoofyLaz may be in other parts of the forum, but only SeriousLaz in this area. :) Well, sometimes my editorial efforts tend to be a little humorous, and those might be Original Content - Editorial worthy. But only my best humorous efforts will appear in this section -- when I do humor at all.
Again: Thank you so much for this initiative. It may make FR a good alternative to such places as Red State, and it could become a huge draw, even to the chattering classes. :)

I would caution anyone submitting an article to back it with objective facts to avoid challenges of slander or libel. Don’t make ad hominem attacks, do name calling or call a person a criminal (unless already adjudged one). You can say that certain acts, if found to have occurred, could result in criminal charges. You can express an opinion and urge good conduct or good reforms.
Go to it citizen investigators.
There are two EXTREMELY high quality posters who's submissions will be amazing: nathanbedford and JohnHuang2. There are others, of course, but these two spring to mind.
Just to clarify, can I pimp my blog there?
When I went to UPS I found that they now require a photo Id. to ship or receive a package. I researched this and found it stems from TSA requirements. I would like to create a list of places where a photo Id is required because of government regulations. People would post places they were required to show Id. Voter Id laws is thought behind this. Would this be a proper thread for this new news category, “FReeper Editorial” .

I exchange freepmail with people who are in the know / or had experience in significant issues facing this nation. I welcome the new forum. I hope we don’t have to hand out the Reynolds Wrap, but I look forward to the change. I would like to share my experiences past and present.
I foresee this as becoming the top-of-the-line must-read content here on FR. It will likely become the venue where FR is exposed via other media, lamestream and otherwise. So, I think it's necessary for this section to be the very best it can be.
To enforce the already high standards of FR, how about these items to serve as filtering mechanism?
The people who post graphically violent threads of the darkest evil (used to be Chet99, but the ones who continue know who they are) need their own category: Despicable Crimes. If they stray outside that, BANNED.
It’s awful checking latest posts looking for good news and finding those weirdos who post the unspeakable. I move that certain categories be blocked from viewing within ‘latest posts’. If I absolutely, positively need to have my heart broken at 4:30AM, I’ll go look at the atrocities section.
Anybody’s who has read your “History of FreeRepublic” post from nearly 10 years ago has always known you’re capable of first rate stuff.
Step up, Laz.... Leave the search for cheap laughs to second raters like me.
