Are you an ABO like me PO'd at JR for getting called a RINO? Truce declared! Please DONATE!

Attention "Anyone But Obama" (ABO) FReepers! If you go to the thread at the link you will will see that JimRob has "declared a truce" and hundreds of ABO FReepers are now vigorously defending their belief, which I share, that the ineligible Marxist Manchurian MUST BE DEFEATED to preserve the Republic...without fear of "the ZOT"! Please consider a DONATION not just to fund renewal of expression and amplification of your ABO views, but let's over-achieve this FReepathon to get JR his new equipment!

IMO, Free Republic and FReepers could be vital in swing states in rallying just enough conservatives to tip the election and prevent our troops from having to salute for even one day longer than necessary an ineligible Marxist committed to destroying the USA !

Some things have no quick answer. Thai people report numerous experiences like that ~ almost an ethnic thing with them, but they are nominally Buddhist

All I can tell you is most Christians distinguish between reincarnation and resurrection, but frequently without an understanding of what folks who believe in reincarnation believe.

What you are describing is neither reincarnation nor resurrection ~ so you might want to find a clergyman who knows about such things.

It's staring to sound like many of the Romney supporters will not be satisfied with the "truce" unless voices opposing Romney are squelched.

That is true...nice to see others also notice this....I think the freedom to 'celebrate' and 'Promote" as they would like frustrates them.

It's not enough for some to express why they are voting for him...they want a parade!.... Because there's more than just ABO voters on these threads....there are true Romney supporters and promoters who want the freedom to cut loose.

I guess this guy thought he was an expert on Mormansism, but got intimidated when he found out you were an actual former Mormansist yourself... and instead the old accusation of being Anti-Mormansistic was all he could come up with. ;^)

they are being very, very quiet.

Yes they're planning....I hope we'll all be pleasantly surprised....and not just wishful thinking...but they all know what is at stake here..and they also know the public is not happy with the selection.

Santorum didn't give his delegate to Romney when they met in Pitt. and we really don't know what Paul's going to do..but he' on the move and so aren't his supporters.

This has just got to go to convention some how....and if Romney can jump ahead of the game without any opposition by doing so...well then maybe our guys are going to do likewise......

If it's going to be a dog fight then let it be so!!!!

“Like I said earlier NOOB, go lay down, you ain’t runnin nothin!”

Really? You said that? I must’ve stepped over that little doggie turd...

Thanks for saving me 30 dollars, though. I made a commitment to FR when I joined that I would pay daily, when I became a “ real member”, and that I would be a real member when no one had called me a n00b for 30 days. This time, it took 2 and a half weeks for a person without an argument to look up my join date.

I guess you could look at it that you saved me 30 dollars, or that you cost Jim Robinson 30 dollars, or is that for the last 2 and a half weeks, I’ve been arguing with people who are smarter than you and stuck to the issues.

You seem to have nice friends, they tried to stop you from ramming your head into the wall (over and over and over) but I guess they should have brought you your helmet, huh?

there are no absolutes in religion because it is based on faith. Since faith requires a belief based on someones words without evidence to back it up

Are you absolutely sure of this statement and by what measure of standard do you measure by to determine this?

Most people know what you mean, that religion is based on faith and it is not something that one can definitively prove.

But that 'faith' WILL vanish when subjected to data that DISPROVES it!

BTW, Mormonism is anti-Christian. And I can source that.

Why wait?

Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).
Joseph Smith: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from Pearl of Great Price 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.270).

Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" (Journal of Discourses 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" (Journal of Discourses 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (Journal of Discourses 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" (Journal of Discourses 10:230).

Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (The Seer, p. 255).

Orson Pratt also said: "This great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (Journal of Discourses
, vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (Journal of Discourses , 18:172).

President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (Journal of Discourses , 10:127).

James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (A Study of the Articles of Faith, p.182).

President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (Doctrines of Salvation, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p.282).

More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (Mormon Doctrine, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.316).

President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).

President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 2, p.196).

Yes, I am sure of my statement. The standard I used?? Life in general I suppose. I believe nothing I hear and very little of what I see. It wasn’t always like that, but experiences in life does make one take notice. Some of the arguments I had earlier is nothing new. My views have been known by many over the years. But we do have flareups now and then. I would never begrudge anyone of their faith, that is personal and contrite. Nor do I think anyone else should judge others for their faith, for it is personal and private.

In your belief, only Jews that become Christian will go to Heavan.

The following is either true or false:

John 6:28-29 (niv)

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

1 John 3:21-24

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.  And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.  The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

I just happened to see your side discussion about reincarnation.

Since I have studied the Hindu scriptures (Vedas and related texts) for more than 40 years, perhaps I can make a quick little description of reincarnation.

Very simply put, each living being is in reality an eternal soul, or spiritual spark, called jiva atma. Each soul or eternal self has no beginning and no end. When the soul or atma lives in the realm of birth and death (the material universe), he is imprisoned on the wheel of samsara - repeated birth and death, travlling from one body to another, as karma (actions taken by each individual and the subsequent reaction, either good or bad) and desires dictate.

The goal of life is to re-unite with God in love and become liberated from the constant repetition of birth and death. The Vedas describe an eternal effulgent realm beyond the confines of the material creation.

The bodily identities (male or female, one nationality or another, one race or another, one species or another) are not eternal and not who “we” really are. They are compared to a vehicle we are riding in, or a suit of clothes we are wearing.

So, the “person” we are now - say an American man, or a Chinese woman - is not our real self. It is only a temporary role; our real self is an eternal part of God. Not part in the sense of a drop of water is part of the ocean and again “becomes” the ocean (although no drop by itself is the whole ocean) but part of in the sense that a child is part of the father and mother; an eternal relationship, but eternal individuality and free will.

Your post is one lacking of any logic. I suppose this is a better alternative:

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property (either as a child, a wife, or a concubine) must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science (the science against which it had vainly struggled) the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

Winston Churchill

Romney sucks no doubt, but an Islamic obama is better?

Get a grip.

So you are equating the struggle of the Black race with the problems of people who on their own decided to join a very easily disputed cult that distorts and insults the Savior of 100s of millions of Christians...

And I'm a screw ball?

this is the electronic town square - I’ll speak up when ever I feel like it. I don’t know what your problem is, but I bet it is hard to pronounce.
