Identity theft perpetrators should be given a life sentence in a high-security prison.

We have been sorting out multiple id thefts of my 93-year-old WWII veteran father. It has been a nightmare. There are obviously websites where the information is sold to others, as we have seen the gamut from simple opening of new credit cards to auto withdrawals from his checking account, and most recenting he is being victimized thru the electronic filing of an income tax return in his name, when he had not even finished his return.

Stealing a person’s id should be treated as seriously as kidnapping and hostage-taking while robbing a bank, which is pretty much what ID theft amounts to.

God help the person if I were to meet up with one of them.

Same thing with my World War II vet father, except for the bank accounts.

I’m with you 100% on ID thieves getting life and there should be no parole.

I agree it should be taken very very seriously. The havoc it plays in someone’s life is hard for someone to fathom.
