Technically, I’m curious exactly how this went down. Where did the driver have his piece? Was the window open and if so, why? Did he shoot through the window?
I have to think the driver had his weapon out already by the time the kid got to the car window...
Yeah, situational awareness is a skill many do not have because they've never practiced it. This guy obviously had it. When you observe a young black male pull his shirt over his face and head in your direction, that's a good indication to assume that things are going to quickly go south and right now would be a great time to prepare yourself. The kid died with a loaded and cocked weapon in his hands so things certainly could have turned out very bad for his poorly-chosen target.
Don't know if it's accurate, though.

It looks like he was already a thug in training, but the ones who picked him up probably picked the mark, quite possibly someone they already had a score to settle - the young thug ‘uninformed’ gets sent to a mark who is already on edge hence weapon ready. I’m sure the two adults are congratulating themselves at how they escaped. It’s all speculation but given the situation/circumstances very possible.
Mine’s in a holster just off my right knee. The idiot asks you to open the door and get out. You draw the weapon, turn off the safety, and when the door swings open you fire from the hip.
I’s a 9mm, so you have to get off several rounds to make sure the threat has been well and fully put down.
The lovely thing about a carjacking is that it is SOOO much easier explaining to the police why there’s a puddly of worthless genetic material just outside your vehicle here on the street.
Explaining why the guy who broke into your house has holes in him takes an intricately planned out series of steps to ensure that you aren’t the one going to jail.
Why such a thing doesn’t automatically come with thank you notes from the state controller’s office is beyond me.
A work partner got a call from his friend in Alabama the other night. He was all upset because while sitting in his Lexus SUV with his date in her apt. parking lot, a thug pulls his door open, puts a gun to his head and threatens to kill him. Even after offering his wallet and cash, the thug still says its his day to die. Thankfully, before the thug could do anything, the guy in the suv has time to pull his .45 out from between the seat and shoots the punk. He runs about 30 feet and drops dead! Now it turns out the little punk was only 13 years old! Of course the media has posted a nice picture of him in a jacket and white shirt. Also says he was the school quaterback etc.....Thankfully when you read the story and other related stories to it, the truth comes out and it seems to have been some kind of gang related crime. So far, no charges have been filed and he has left Alabama. But not without hiring a couple good lawyers just to be safe! Here's a couple articles about it:
