Texas Gov. Rick Perry originally endorsed Newt Gingrich as the top candidate after dropping out of the Republican presidential race.
But with Gingrich set to quit the campaign trail, Perry on Wednesday evening gave his support to the probable nominee, Mitt Romney.
"Mitt Romney has earned the Republican presidential nomination through hard work, a strong organization, and [a] disciplined message of restoring America after nearly four years of failed job-killing policies from President [Barack] Obama and his administration," Perry said in a statement provided to FOX News Channel.
"So today I join the many conservative Republicans across the nation in endorsing Mitt Romney for president and pledge to him, my constituents and the Republican Party that I will continue to work hard to help defeat President Obama.

Would Perry be considered GOPe or Tea?
I am guessing e.
As the Chinese say, palty royarty!
As GOPe as Newt, then...
Perry waited until Gingrich dropped out before endorsing Romney. Nothing to be ashamed of.
et tu Brute?
I “will not” vote for that Mormon Bishop ... pro-gay marriage, pro-choice SOB ... Willard O-Romney
Obama thanks you for your support.
Would Ron Paul be better than Romney?
That is just how it is given that Obama is so awful.
Whaaat? Mr. 2nd Amendment, pro-life, small gub’mint T- Partay hero hisself is endorsing Romney?! Shockah!

Exactly. Palin, Newt, Santorum, Bachmann, and every other influential Republican will be endorsing, supporting and campaigning for him as well. That is kind of the point of a political party. Those that can't support the nominee now generally have no future within the party going forward.
I also will not vote for mitt, no matter what. I will never vote for the liberals the gop pushes on us as the only alternative. Screwum.
Perry must have had another burning bush moment on his latest morning jog.
What meme are we going on for this?
Perry = RINO
Perry = Communist
or
Perry = Smokin’ Hot Singer
“What meme are we going on for this?”
e.
Ya see, that's the whole problem...It's no longer a game, or business as usual.
The political insiders and their futures, are not the issue. That is what's left America nearly dead on the floor.
We need a second party.
I’m beginning to think so........there is no way I will vote for Romney!
When Mitt lost California four years ago, he immediately endorsed John McCain. That is how it works. If you go out honorably, maybe you can take it all away in four years like Mitt has done this time around.
Might as well face it folks, the only principle that drives politicians is getting elected/reelected.
The only way to take the country back is to elect Conservatives not politicians.
I wonder what the response here will be when Newt endoses Romney.
Geez Louise, I knew it would come, but I didn’t think it would come so soon. Ugh.
At least I know he hated doing it, LOL.
This "I'm staying at home" bull is beyond stupid.
We've got a very, very old Ruth Bader Ginsburg, for crying out loud.
At least he didn’t stab Newt in the back like Cain.
Then dont, and feel better about yourself.
>>This “I’m staying at home” bull is beyond stupid.
We’ve got a very, very old Ruth Bader Ginsburg, for crying out loud. <<
And this, we’ll concentrate on the Congress, let Obama win, crap has got to stop as well.
Maybe it’s me, and maybe I just pay attention but has anyone seen the amount of “executive orders” that have come from this Marxist President?
At least with Mitt the Ken doll he will give a thought to the rules and the constitution. With BO, we are freakin’ lost.
Amen.
That's why a lot of Texans have disappeared from around here and took their money with them..
It should be fun. Tune in to FR next Tuesday to see the excitement.
Yeah, ‘nother DC Insider Sellout, like Santorum and Newt.
So you like Rove?
Thanks NoLibZone.
Exactly, the point of a political party, in the American system, is to win. That is why they cover a larger segment of the ideological spectrum. If the spectrum is shrunk, then you end up with a fringe party, who under our Constitution, have no impact on policy making. In a parliamentary system a fringe party can win 8% of the vote and have influence within coalition governments. Our system does not work that way.
100 years ago the spectrum of left to right spanned both parties. That is why you had a LaFollette as a Republican. Today the left and right have sorted themselves out, with far less exceptions than the past. Despite the sorting out, the two parties are geared to win. That is to win 50%+. In order to win, differant factions within the party have to come together. If they split off into splinter parties, then each splinter will lose and lose and lose. That is the way the Founding Fathers intended it to be. They might not have written this into the Constitution, but the same men created the first two political parties. The original Republicans (now the Democrats) had to balance the interests of the Southern plantation owner with those of the Northern small businessman. They were so successful at this that they eventually destroyed their rivals that we had briefly a one party state during the Monroe administration.
No, no, say it ain’t so. Not Sarah ! Not St. Sarah. Not Santissima Sara, Wonderwoman incarnate. No, Sarah will never, ever, never-ever sell us out. Sarah a RINO? Impossible.
[Fingers in ears] Not listening, not listening, not listening, not listening. If I don’t hear Sarah’s sellout when she sells out does that mean she didn’t do it?
Not Sarah.
Ya just knew the Republican party insiders would support another liberal.

That is exactly the type of silly behavior that lonestar was talking about
“Would Ron Paul be better than Romney?”
Paul might be a bit of a nut on foreign policy but at least Ron Paul is not a lying charlatan.

Actually our system is much the same. The difference is that we have coalitions within two large parties. They have many small parties who make up, almost invariably, a majority coalition and a minority or opposition coalition.
There’s good and bad in both systems.
When the dust settles, there will be no one left standing good enough for some people. The perfect has become the enemy of the good.
Well.. what now, FR?
Mitt IS the Republican nominee. Unless you want four more years of Obama, it’s time to rally round our Mormon???
Not gonna be easy for most around here.

Here I had basically kissed off all hope of reading sane presentation once more.
Perry was and remains the best of this years announced candidates, IMO. Too bad he couldn't pull it off.
Put your faith in the ideas, but never in the man. The man will ALWAYS disappoint you.
The point being is our parties are built to win it all, to appeal to as broad a segment of the voters as possible. Not 80% of the electorate but 50%+. While in Canada, for example, the far left NDP does not expect to come close to 50% ever. They aim for their small slice and hope the party just to the right of them, the LP, finishes just short of a majority of seats.
The political insiders know this is a farce.
Others, not capable of critical thought, have political battered wives syndrome.
They keep getting lied to, and getting their teeth knocked out, yet keep coming back for more.
"Silly behavior" is asking a simple question of you?
You expected him to endorse Ron Paul?
