Snark comments aside, I would prefer Romney hire based on qualification, and not based on gender, race, etc...This article seems intended to fan some flames...not clear to me that there is anything wrong with his choice so long as the employee is not advocating the alternate lifestyle on the publics time and dime. If someone has evidence that the hiree in question has been an activist while on govt time, then I do have a problem with it.

This article seems intended to fan some flames...

Looks to me like the Romney Republican Party is, as expected, fully aflame already.

Middle of the article: “Grenell is not just gay, but a gay activist who pushes for same-sex marriages.”

So you're cool with a government composed of morally flawed individuals as long as the taxpayer isn't paying them to advocate immoral causes between 8 and 5 (we know they will anyway)? Reminds me of the choir boy who was fine during the service but strangled puppies when he got home. We want good people, not just people who don't actually act bad while on the job.

The problem is Romney thinks he should hire on the basis of sexual orientation.

At this time that is exceedingly unwise. Remember what the voting public did to Republicans when they thought we were overrun with pedophiles.

Romney could have easily gotten a friend to pick this guy up for later ~ just kept him off the rolls during the remainder of his campaign.

It's stupidity like this that proves that Romney is undeserving of our votes.

What concerned me is the article states that he has scrubbed his social accounts of “offensive” material....
such as??

That does not bode well...

The GOP has always been about hiring and promoting based on merit. Why exclude the best qualified for the job because they are gay? Makes no sense.

Unfortunately, it seems there are a lot of people who if they had their druthers would eliminate all gays. Obama is taking the country down like the Titanic, and they want to snipe about the frikkin deck chairs.

DumbA$$ move on Romney's side.

All a Smart Republican has to say about the “Gay Issue”, what a person does in his/her bedroom is NOT the BUSINESS of the Federal Government and I wish to be the POTUS head of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. The Federal Government has no Business in a person's bedroom. PERIOD.

DumbA$$ Romney just gave conservatives red meat. FU Romney for pissing off your base.

This guy is a movement gay. Since when have movement gays ever shut up about their pet issue, no matter where they are?

Annise Parker ran for mayor of Houston, twice, on a closeted basis, and the Houston Chronicle, wretched gay-advocacy fishwrapper that it is, NEVER mentioned during her first run that she is a lifetime lesbian, but after the election, skinned the bark off her opponent who'd tried to bring it up as an issue.

Then she turned around, two months into her second term, and announced by executive ukase, that the City of Houston is officially and formally a "pro-marriage-equality" (pro-homosexual "marriages") city, end of subject.

Grenell is not just gay, but a gay activist who pushes for same-sex marriages.

At the end of Grenell’s service in the Bush administration, he took a notable whack at the administration, telling The Advocate‘s Kerry Eleveld of his effort to have his partner, Matt Lashey, listed in the United Nations’ Blue Book,(while on company time) which is “a reference guide of contact information for different member states of the United Nations as well as diplomatic personnel and their spouses.”

Grenell had attempted to have Lashey’s name added ‘several times’, to no avail. He told The Advocate back in 2008, “What put me over the edge was a friend and colleague who met her spouse after I was already with my partner — they got married and subsequently were put into the Blue Book in a matter of days.”

The State Department eventually told him that the Defense of Marriage Act prevented the listing. Although ‘he protested the decision behind the scenes’, Lashey’s name was not ever added, which led to his coming forward to criticize the treatement publicly as he left his post.

That sir is some of what is being scrubbed from his web site.
