The GOP has always been about hiring and promoting based on merit. Why exclude the best qualified for the job because they are gay? Makes no sense.

Unfortunately, it seems there are a lot of people who if they had their druthers would eliminate all gays. Obama is taking the country down like the Titanic, and they want to snipe about the frikkin deck chairs.

The “best” candidate had to scrub his twitter account of “offensive” material?

That the “best” we’ve got?

And certainly...someone who has had to delete offensive material in the past certainly won’t need to do so in the future...right?

Oh I don’t believe for a second this guy was considered because he was the best.

This was a pc/political etch-a-sketch move to the core.

No. We're not talking about "deck chairs." We're discussing the ship's hull, the natural family, the fundamental building block and superstructure of our entire civilization.

And while the ship is being sunk by unprincipled blind men, you're saying "no big deal, let's just concentrate on the party we're going to have in New York."

You do understand the damage that accepting immorality does to a society, right? The Founders did.

Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. - George Washington

“…the principles of all genuine liberty, and of wise laws and administrations are to be drawn from the Bible and sustained by its authority. The man therefore who weakens or destroys the divine authority of that book may be accessory to all the public disorders which society is doomed to suffer…” Noah Webster

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

George Washington even decried cursing in his army.

Washington's Order Against Profanity

The General is sorry to be informed that the foolish and wicked practice of profane cursing and swearing, a vice hitherto little known in our American Army is growing into fashion. He hopes that the officers will, by example as well as influence, endeavor to check it and that both they and the men will reflect that we can little hope of the blessing of Heaven on our army if we insult it by our impiety and folly. Added to this it is a vice so mean and low without any temptation that every man of sense and character detests and despises it.

I have to say that that is a rather trollish thing to say, by the way.

Name me one gay person who you think would be a highly qualified candidate for office.

You can't do it. Yet you don't have a clue as to why we conservatives oppose gays. Not only from inside their bedroom - but also from inside the Beltway.

Here - let me make it simple for you. Because they are gay and they have a warped and corrupted personal life - they also will have a warped and corrupted public life.
