Mark Levin: The Speech Romney Should Give.
http://spectator.org/blog/2012/04/17/mark-levin-the-speech-romney-s ^ | April 17, 2012 | Jeffrey Lord

I saw this posted on Real Clear Politics, and it's worth a listen by the Romney people.

It's an audio of Mark Levin on "The Speech Romney Should Give."

Governor Romney gave a speech to a group of wealthy supporters and made the classic moderate Republican mistake of dissing "true believers" -- i.e., conservatives.

Somebody on Team Romney needs to have a discussion on conservatives with the candidate. The Governor is clearly a smart guy, a good man and he would be head and shoulders a better president than his soon-to-be opponent.

But if this attitude persists it can either lose an election that shouldn't be lost… or lose an administration that will need every last bit of conservative support to succeed.

There is something unethical, even immoral going on with the so-called conservative media regarding Romney. Rush and Mark Levin have taken to serving as Romney's on-air consultancy; which is translated, they are trying to telegraph talking points, position statements, and ideas that Romney needs to articulate to appeal to the base. Including the speech noted in the article, which Mark Levin gave with the hope Mitt Romney's people were listening.

It is one thing to fall into line with the GOP, that may be a matter of fear, or protecting oneself from retribution. But to try and pimp Romney out as a conservative, and to give him the camouflage and apply the make-up for him to deceive the base, and become acceptable to them is far short of what I would have expected from either of these so-called conservative media leaders. I believe Sean Hannity is in on the extreme Romney makeover, also.

NEWT! The Last Conservative Standing. He doesn't need coaching or consultants to talk conservatism FROM THE HEART...

BEWARE.

Romney has no more understanding of Conservatism than does Obama. They are both very much alike ~ and even belong to very similar religious bodies.

Mark Levin pleads to the severe RINO to be otherwise.

He would have a better likelihood of
pleading to a rotting piece of meat to be 'fresh'.

Oh, no! I am laughing and upset with myself that I am laughing, as I actually find the words and pics VERY disturbing... Oh, no! I think I am getting perverse, and I haven’t been in politics that long...

All for Newt, but the fact is barring an unusual occurrence, this is over. Mark has been trying to coax the Romney campaign to be more effective for the past couple weeks since it became apparent he was going to win it.

Politics is a mix of idealism and realism....we have to be real, and Levin is dealing with the reality that Mitt is all but certain to be the standard-bearer.

RE "Romney has no more understanding of Conservatism than does Obama."

That is true, and that makes it all the worse that conservatives are trying to put him in a conservative dress...

Take your Newt crap and stuff it. Levin is not pimping out Romney.

I listened to him the night Santorum dropped out. Levin basically said, to the Romney people, look, you fools, you have destroyed the Reagan coalition with your relentlessly negative ads. Unless you find a way to restore that coalition, you will lose the election in the fall.

1. You better find a truly conservative running mate. (Translated, don’t even think of choosing Christie).

2. You broke the coalition. It’s your job to put it together again. And it won’t be easy. So you better start listening to conservatives now.

Or else you will lose in November.

That’s not pimping out Romney. That’s warning Romney that he may have won the nomination but he will lose in the fall if he doesn’t take certain steps.

Levin has made it abundantly clear that he has little use for Romney. He doesn’t think we can survive four more years of Obama. So he is taking deliberate, intelligent steps to try to avoid that.

Levin is taking the small space left to us and doing what he can with it. He is not falling in line with the GOP establishment. He has done everything except that. And for you to accuse him of it is despicable.

It may be more fun to whistle past the graveyard. Patriots try to make lemonade out of lemons.

The pimping accusation is calumny against Levin. He has been consistent in his anyone but Romney stance as long as there was “anyone.”

Okay, 2 questions for you:

1. What if for the past two weeks, while there are still 1/2 of the primaries remaining, what if levin, rush, all the others, jumped into the breach and said, NO!, we are all going to get behind the last conservative standing, and we are not going to let them choose our candidate. Would that count as an "unusual occurrence" as you call it?

2. What is going to happen when and if Romney is elected, and the liberal socialist Romney shows up in WH, because nobody really knows which romney they are electing. What will that mean regarding the people who painted him all up with conservative colors and dishonestly presented him to the base? Do you consider that a principled thing for them to do?

I know you don't have to answer, but I really would like to hear your thoughts, because I am grappling bigtime with all this...

“Well the Republican establishment got its way,” Levin said. “The Republican establishment has won yet again. Some of you are very upset about it. Some of you are self-delusional — not many. Some of you are thinking, ‘Well, what you mean? This is conservatism.’ No it’s not. Just because you’re not Obama doesn’t mean you’re a conservative or a constitutionalist.”

But instead of dwelling on the pros and cons of Romney, Levin encouraged his listeners to focus on defeating President Barack Obama in the upcoming election.

“But in this election, ladies and gentlemen, we have to be realists,” he continued. “And the reality is this country will not survive as free — our private property rights will be incredibly diminished; our Constitution will be abused daily; you will be more frustrated than ever before with fewer liberties and fewer rights than ever before — if we do not defeat Barack Obama. It’s that simple. There’s nothing complex about this.”

Levin is the perfect example of good men who allow FEAR to affect their judgement. What Levin has written, no longer applies as his actions have now spoken volumes. This is just pitiful. What a betrayal to conservatism.

I will NEVER vote for a liberal posing as a Republican for as long as I live. I don't care if Armageddon is on the line (which may be the case here) I WON'T DO IT!

The last time I voted for a liberal posing as a Republican was when I voted for this idiot for Mayor in 2001 here in New York city because at the time he seemed the best choice and was endorsed by Rudy Guliani who I once respected....

Now here I am over 10 years later living under Despotism with this psychopath the Despot issuing edicts almost everyday.

The Constitution - Gone! (only out of state OWS protestors and Muslims who want to bring grief to the 911 families have constitutional rights it seems) Individual freedoms -Gone! Property rights - Gone! Privacy - Gone! My money - Gone! - every week to support welfare breeding cows. How the private sector wants to conduct legal business - Gone! How people want to spend their night out - Gone! How people want to eat - Gone! How people want to drink - Gone! How people want to do anything - GONE GONE GONE!

We are only allowed to do what the Depot allows us to do!

Today he issued another decree that all apartment building owners must send a list to the city of all the apartments in the building that "has smoking"...In other words "tell us who is smoking"...AKA the Nazi decree "tell us how many Jews are in your tenement".

And this is just the tip of the iceberg with this absolute freakin psychopath. A few months ago he wanted to ban booze! That's right, PROHIBITION! Oh yes, then he confiscated food donated to the homeless because he did not deem it "nutritious". Oh yes and if you miss paying a couple parking tickets from his traffic scams, say goodbye to your car which has happened to me TWICE already. That's right, your property is stolen by the city of New Yor because you were foolish to leave it parked in the street LEGALLY or what use to be legally.

Oh yes, and TERM LIMITS?? Forget about that! The Despot is able to do away with that and make himself RULER FOR LIFE!

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU VOTE FOR A LIBERAL POSING AS A REUBLICAN. ALWAYS CHECK OUT A CANDIDATES HISTORY! This a-hole was from Assachussets and I would have NEVER have voted for him if I knew that because like my Grandma use to tell me "Never trust a politician from Assachussets(which is how she use to pronounce it)"...My God, she was so right.

The pimping accusation is calumny against Levin. He has been consistent in his anyone but Romney stance as long as there was “anyone.”

I stated my thoughts clearly and without name calling, and you don't need to call me names.

All you say about Levin despising Romney is true in so far as what I have heard say as much, but the undeniable fact is, when you supposedly despise someone as much as you say Levin does romney, then how do you get on the air, and tell your listeners, we have to work together to pull out a victory for Romney.

He had said he would support Romney when he was the nominee. The primaries are still ongoing, and because Levin and many others have declared romney the winner, doesn't make it so.

Don't demean people who support Newt. I plan on supporting Romney IF he is the nominee, I consider that my duty to my country. But there is still a chance... you might not agree, but don't dismiss those who do...

One of my posts a few days ago follows. It basically says that Patriots do other things rather than making lemonade from lemons. They cannon back the lemons to those advocating for them... There are many definitions of Patriots, friend. Trying to present Romney as a conservative, is not one of them. Sorry.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2872571/posts

While everyone is in the weeds counting delegates and wondering who Santorum will endorse (it will be Romney), few people are talking about the degree to which the GOP will be emboldened if Romney gets the nomination. It will be a sign to them they can get the evangelical, social and fiscal conservatives to fall in line, all they have to do is wait them out.

A few days ago, Mark Levin said he was disgusted with the Republican establishment, right after he said, 'we conservatives have to work together to pull out a victory for Mitt Romney’, just one of the presumed conservatives who have fallen in line with the GOP this past week. Establishment Republicans now know without a doubt that the base, its leaders and luminaries, can get to the point of total disgust with the GOP, and they will still fall in line.

Last cycle, Huckabee helped split the conservative vote, and make a path for the squishy one. This time it's Romney in the it’s my turn circle… Next year it will be Santorum. And Santorum will be sufficiently and properly neutered if he gets his turn next, count on it.

And where is last cycle’s Santorum, Mike Huckabee, who played the evangelicals big time in 2008, right now? Hosting a radio show competing with Rush.

We are at the breach, and there is still time, though barely. If people like Levin, DeMint, Sarah, etc., would jump in now – and they won’t – grab this moment, secure it and swing it back full bore at the GOP, the King Georgers would get a message loud and clear, they can't take the base for granted. And maybe the next time they think about trying their Karl Rove Gambit, they won't.

We can't look for help or expect anyone with power to give us a hand. We can either stand up and get in the battle, or hand the GOP another reward, a compliant conservative base, whom the GOP already despises and take for granted. "The only thing holding us back right now is intimidation over the giants we face. They are not bigger than we are if we stand together." ~ butterdezillion

Well, you can take your Romney propoganda and stick it where the sun don’t shine.

We still have a primary going on where almost half the country has not had their say, nor have the delegates at the convention had a chance to discuss this and vote on this Romney nomination idiocy, and you come bloviating and calling people names because they object to abandoning the conservative that stayed in this race?

I listen to Levin too, and he he raised the white flag about four months early, and a lot of conservatives know it. I don’t need you interpreting for me what Levin did and is doing, and it is a big mistake.

So, the ex-Speaker of the House who led the conservative takeover of the House in 1994 and the House itself and pretty much the conservative movement, until the Bonior/ Boehner group ousted him, is not “anyone”?

Stuff it, yourself.

We need to send a message to Romney and Levin: Actions speak louder than words.

And words and words and words. Do the conservative media and leaders really think if they can get Romney to act and talk like a conservative that is going to make him one? Because, in its clearest, that is the only way you can explain what they are doing. They aren't nudging him to the right, like they seem to believe they are, they are giving him the correct talking points that will make him appear he has moved to the right, so as to appeal to the base, but nothing will have changed inside him. It is just a script. Barack Obama could read it if he had to... surely they understand that.
