Lets look at 3 points on the map:

c. Zimmerman’s truck location
f. location of confrontation
d. House Martin was staying at

If ‘f’ is closer to ‘d’ than ‘c’, how on earth did Zimmerman catch up to Martin...if Martin was trying to get away?

It seems obvious that Martin did not simply run away - to me at least.
