But while administration officials have made clear in the wake of President Obama's controversial comments that they respect that authority, it's unlikely the letter Thursday will smooth things over.

With the president's comments becoming a political football, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell plans to deliver a speech in his home state of Kentucky Thursday focusing on the president's remarks.

WTH does that mean, appropriate cases?? Only cases you agree with? Every damn law needs to be reviewed before they hit the desk to be signed IMHO.

Since the reply was only 2 1/2 pages long, I guess Holder/Obama gets a B grade for this one.

The media is in full force spin now.....

Because that letter is not 3 pages, does not address what the judge asked.

SOOOO, it was simply a way for Holder and Obama to get a message to THIS court using the Supreme Court case as a cover.

Complicit media.

Holder said "the power of the courts to review the constitutionality of legislation is beyond dispute," though it should only be exercised in "appropriate cases."

The greatest expansion of federal power since FDR, along with the appeals courts making different rulings on the case and popular outrage at the law bringing about one of the biggest shifts in Congress ever. I think any one of those would make this an "appropriate case".

“The court can rule on the constitutionality of laws as long as we think it is appropriate.” What a crock! I hope the judge sites Holder for contempt.
