NBC News issued an apology Tuesday for the way it handled the broadcasting of the 911 conversation between George Zimmerman and a police dispatcher in the Trayvon Martin case.
Following reports that NBC aired audio of the call was edited in a way that implied Zimmerman was racist, the network launched an internal investigation.
"During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret. We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers," the network said in a statement cited

I’m not a lawyer, but I do know one must prove damages.
He hasn’t been charged, and may not be.
If charged he may not be convicted.
If he was charged and convicted, suing NBC is the least of his concerns, imo.
The news coverage might be a basis for appeal of the conviction, again in my non-lawyer opinion.
When George wins a $500,000 award from NBC in court, he can then put out a bounty on 50 New Black Panther members for $10,000 each, dead or castrated (at a minimum).
Good point, if the Holder Justice Dept cannot find any reason to charge the vigilantes in the NBP then Mr. Zimmerman is all set.

You’re right; they “yelled FIRE in a theater”, and heads should roll. After the media showed only the end of the Rodney King tape, over 50 people were killed in the unrest that followed; the media has their (mostly black people’s) blood on their hands.
This was no “error.” This was an attempt to start a riot.
Aren’t there criminal charges that can be leveled?
The whole point of the "Stand Your Ground" law was to make sure that people like Zimmerman who were forced to defend themselves against violent attackers would not then have to defend themselves against malicious prosecutors at trial.
Hardly an apology, considering they likely knew all along. It’s why I don’t watch network news anymore, I find it equivalent to living in the Soviet Union and being subjected to Pravda every day. Actually, more like the telescreens people were stuck with in Orwell’s “1984.”

NBC clearly, totally libeled him and if there are no charges against him in Florida he's got a slam dunk case.
