Don’t you think that a five day suspension for refusing to clean their tables is a bit extreme? Kids like that don’t mind being suspended. On the other hand a week of school detentions would be much more effective. It’s too bad that the teachers and administrators don’t want to stay for the hour after school to administer the detentions.

This was Florida, though, the school system might or might not be different.

When you’re in charge of a cafe. with 725 students with 2 teachers and 3 schoolaids, any potential for a failure of discipline is important and must be dealt with serioulsly. Your detention idea would have merit,except for the last 30 years in NYC detention has been considered corporal punishment and only done with weitten parental permission, not simple parental notification.

Any way to find out what he was suspended for? If he broke Zimmerman’s nose it may have been for something other than not cleaning his plates?
