Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (R) voted Tuesday morning for Rick Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator’s campaign announced via Twitter.

“Honored to learn this morning on @rickandbubba that AL Gov. @GovernorBentley cast his vote for me and joined the fight!” @RickSantorum tweeted, referring to the popular “Rick and Bubba” radio show.

Bentley was neutral on backing a candidate until this morning. Good news for Rick.

I’m so glad that Santorum isn’t behaving like a cartoon character the way Mitt Romney is.

And, while a bit rusty news, Newt Gingrich pulled his endorsement of Ronald Reagan HERE, 1988.

I’d been leaning Newt but now leaning Santorum, because it appears he is garnering more Republican voter interest than Newt. I believe Newt would probably govern better, but we need somebody who will inspire jaded GOP voters to get off their duffs and cast a ballot. Mitt Romney ain’t it.

Oh good grief. Newt has divested himself of a ton of liberal dilettante baggage over the years, including global warming — he may be impulsive but he is not asinine. This is not the same as Mitt Romney who is still cheering for an Obamacare like regime, only coming through the so called “states rights” door.

Statements like that are exactly why I just don’t trust Newt.

This is big. RCP polling from AL has this a toss up between Rick, Newt and Milt. Maybe this is just enough of a boost to help push Rick into a solid second place showing or even a win.

AL and MS have proportional distribution of delegates, so Rick could get something good out of this.

Bentley is a disgrace as Southern governor and should ran out of the state on a rail.

Santorum: Perfect for the lazy Republican who like mediocrity.

He fits well with every nominees since 1988.

Alabama's Bentley is no more conservative than Florida's Bush was. Certainly not the most conservative in the Republican Primary. Real conservatives split the vote. Bentley won the general because he was better than the crap weasel Dem at the time. He is real cozy with the Alabama Teacher's Union.

Thank you AiT. As painful as it is to see the real Newt out himself, it needs to be done.

This guy made some vicious comments about Reagan during his term in office. At one point he said his policies were as bad as Carter’s. At other points he predicted massive failure due to Reagan policies. He also stated that the first Reagan/Gorbachev summit was the scariest one since Hitler/McMillin.

And this is the guy that wants credit for Reagan’s legacy being passed to him? LMAO, he hated the Reagan legacy. “The world has changed.”

At another time, he said, “The Reagan legacy is dead.”

No Newt, it’s your legacy that is dead, if folks pay any attention to who you have been all along.
