Food justice? Yeah, I’ve never had caviar in my life. Where’s the justice in that?

The Upton Sinclair muckraking pieces about food processing in the Chicago slaughterhouses ushered in the first Golden Age for Progressives and the nanny state. They are always looking for what worked for them in the past to work for them again.

Food justice is just another theme to an end. The soviets understood this when they collectivized farming and the means to distribute food. Certain parts of the population who were not able to produce enough food were starved and the food produced was taken from other areas and they were starved. The democrat party has wanted to take control of and collectivize this essential to life for years. The FDR administration also looked for ways to control farm production as much as possible but never fully achieved the goal. Guess who they will starve when they gain full control.

When government “fixes” food there will be choices and much higher prices, just like it fixed gasoline and electricity prices.

If condoms are madatory for health what about vegetables? Health insurance is soon to be mandatory and the government is mandating what insurance companies cover so I see no reason to doubt that soon we will be forced to eat our peas, literally.

[Rush transcript]

You can spend the rest of your life defending the produce at Walmart, but as far as the people playing offense on this, the book and the allegation make the allegation true. Not what is true. And so the focus here is to take over the distribution of food by the federal government.

Exactly right. Lies work as well as half-truths which work as well as full truth. The truth isn't the truth anyway -- only the message is the truth, only the program is the truth.

What kills me about the Walmart dressing-up wilted veggies story is that WM is trying not to WASTE food. I thought we stuck up Americans were starving the third world with our bourgeois insistence on top quality. I bet these same whiners are out at the dumpsters crying over all the “wasted” food that does get culled from the same “life support” shelves.

Shame on me trying to find logic in the mind of liberals...
