There are all sorts of back up systems to use. Mozy is one.

After having tried many, including carbonite, I am now using Mozy and it works great!
Much better than the rest. Has saved me many times.

Pro-Flowers.

They had let someone use my Visa and when I told them I did not use it and ask about the person who did.
Multiple times they refused me and LEO's to provide any info on the perps.

So screw them forever.

Ed Schultz called Laura Ingraham a "slut". Guess who still advertises with him? @Carbonite

No, no, and no. I do my backups via my home server, and archive with DVD-RW coasters and big honkin' thumb drives. As far as mattresses go, whatever is firm on the lower back and we can make whoopee on, that's what the missus and I go with. None of those sponsors got my money but Rush got theirs, and I'll still tune him in Monday at noon. The one thing I can predict, however, is that there'll be sponsors stepping in to fill the void regardless of this much-ado-about-nothing, and I may well patronize them for their anti-PC fortitude.

One aside: Rush was wrong to peg her as a slut; he did it for the wrong reason. It's one thing being a 30-year-old 'professional' college law student who will lay under anyone at any time for whatever reasons that motivate her and/or her libido at the moment; that's a slut, and we cannot allow the definition of a slut to be defined up or down in the matter. What needs to be recognized is that when she expects and demands that her personal sexual activities be subsidized by we taxpayers, then she is little more than a WHORE. In fact, I submit for your discussion, that she could be arrested for prostitution by receiving personal financial gain for laying on her back with her knees pinned to her ears. On top of that, she's a lantern-jawed, bull-necked moose whom I wouldn't tag if you gave me two bags and a fifth of Maker's Mark to kick off the evening.........

My Carbonite expires in 10 days and I just now logged in and cancelled, stating Rush is my friend.

And Reid is bitching about prostitution in Nevada. A loathsome bunch they are.

Reid bitches about prostitution in Nevada because the government isn't getting an adequate slice of the revenue pie (pun semi-intended). If there wouldn't be a backlash over it, they'd legally sanction throwing newborn babies into pit bull fighting rings if they thought they could generate tax revenue to dole out to their serfs.

add to this thread also—

After cancelling subscription to Carbonite, I later checked the site and got this message:
Maintenance In Progress
We are making improvements to serve you better.
Service will be restored soon.
Thank you for your patience

I think maybe I am not alone in this Jihad.

Doesn't the Left recruit, organize and pay people for these letter (email)-writing/telephone campaigns to further their causes? I've heard that several times. I've seen want ads looking to hire "volunteers" to phone on environmental causes. I recall one Dem laughingly refer to how they "simulated" a groundswell of demand for CFR. I wonder about those work-at-home things that offer pay for "writing."

Maybe Breitbart's people could look into it.

I’ll be glad with Carbonite being gone.
Why store your info where anyone can have access to? Any company can pull a g00gle with privacy.

What’s wrong with backing up to an external hard drive?

Maybe Rush should focus on educational advertisers instead of “comfort” type ones.

Seriously, why buy a mattress unless you intend to sleep through Rush’s program.

Remember in the 60s when the left said, “Suppose they gave a war and nobody came?” And remember the how the MLK bus boycotts brought the bus companies in Montgomery, AL to there knees. Transpose this to today. Suppose conservatives were to stick together and refuse to do business with any company having a left-leaning agenda. And suppose conservative tax-payers were to refuse to pay taxes to support abortion, birth control, or anything that they can’t support with a clear conscience. They can’t arrest all of us. Just sayin.........

I have an external 60GB HD which I use to drag and drop important data. Since I keep all data under a separate file on the HD, I just drag/drop that one file and I’m done.

There is no way I’d backup my HD online, ever.

All it would take is one busybody politician with nothing else to do to pass a law saying the feds have access to all records in the interest of “fighting terrorism” or “for the children”.

"Anyone know an alternative?"

Yeah .. back yer' own shit up, don't have such unrecoverable stuff in a computer and don't worry about losing anything ... entropy.

My first wife of 21 years died in '04 and we (she) homeschooled.

After some time of confusion and darkness, I tried opening up her computer (for the alternate person taking over the homeschooling) and I couldn't open anything.

I was frantic, ... all those records and school "stuff", locked up forever !

Geeks I know tried and failed.

My kids survived, I survived, the schooling went on, they finished school ...

Lay back with your barcadas, Al ... sip a lil' tubol and don't worry about it.

Carbonite's business is based wholely on your incompetence and fear.

Don't let 'em have it because you're not on both counts. Mabuhay !

I use a product called Click Free. My mom ordered it from QVC. It is not as convenient as Carbonite in that you must periodically plug it in to your USB port, but after that the device does everything without prompting. I have a large memory card for my camera so I’m not constantly uploading and it’s not an inconvenience for me to use the Click Free. I also just finished grad school so after each assignment was complete I would update my Click Free. With options like Cloud and iCloud, you might not even have to worry about it though.

Quote:
Anybody do business with Carbonite, Sleep Train Mattress Centers, and Quicken Loans?

Given the invasive nature of both Carbonite and Quicken, one would be foolish to expose their personal finances and computer data to these politically motivated entities.

Any business that relies on gaining access to personal data &/or financial information to remain in business absolutely MUST remain apolitical at all times to retain trust. All these businesses have exposed their political bias and therefore should and will suffer consequences for it.

This boycott will ultimately backfire.

Anyone stupid enough to back up their private business and personal data on a website is an absolute fool!

Carbonite could go out of business, hackers could infiltrate Carbonite, Hackers could intercept transmissions between you and the storage business, Carbonite employees can exploit your data, and worst of all, for any reason Carbonite just might not give you back your files.

Go buy a 1T backup drive and do it yourself.
