Three advertisers on Rush Limbaughs popular radio show Friday announced that they are pulling their ads, and other companies are expressing concern over customer outrage in the wake of the conservative hosts controversial slut comments this week.
We dont condone negative comments directed toward any group. In response, we are currently pulling our ads from Rush with Rush Limbaugh, the company Sleep Train Mattress Centers announced on its Twitter account early Friday.
The company began tweeting at some of its followers starting around midnight, telling multiple Twitter users, Thank you for your concern. We are currently pulling all of our ads with Rush Limbaugh.
All of the companys tweets announcing its decision met grateful responses from the Twitter world.
I have to buy a frame this weekend. Now I know where to go. Thank you for refusing to support Rushs hatred, @djimenez9 tweeted.
Thank you @theSleepTrain for not supporting misogyny. Youre a good egg, said @FlightyWendy.

Anybody do business with them here?
Sleep Number too. Check out their Facebook pages. It is crazy over there!
Which group was that?
Does it start with an S-??
“Carbonite, Sleep Train Mattress Centers, and Quicken Loans are the three.
Anybody do business with them here? “
Yes, Carbonite. I wont be renewing my subscription when it comes up later this year. I will also be emailing them my outrage right now...
Prob doesn’t need them anyway.
Hey guys, good spots opening up for ads on Rush’s show.
Hatred is usually from the left. Disagreement with them is just called hate by them.
My hope, when all this has died down, and all those companies sales are down, and they want to advertise again, Rush tells them to go to hell where they belong.
“Anybody do business with them here? “

I use Carbonite which is up for renewal next month.
Anyone know an alternative?
Haven't used Carbonite and won't now, even though we've been giving it thought.
Quicken is now gone from our future business prospects as well.
Gee this makes vendor choices a bit easier. You know, when all is said and done, I'll betcha these companies lose more business from Rush supporters than they would have from supporters of government financed "social needs".
We use Mozy but I don’t know anything about their politics except they advertise on the Hannity show.
It's free and it looks OK to me. Anyone know of a downside to that software?
Mozy is suppose to be good. They advertise on Sean’s radio show.
Great alternative to Carbonite is at www.crashplan.com
I tried Mozy Pro and Carbonite. They are all rubbish compared to Crashplan.
Buy a 2TB external HD. 100.00 or less.
Drag drop and copy your existing hard drives.
Day or so later/when done, pull plug and store 2TB.
it were not for Rush; they would not be a successful business.
I stopped listening to Rush since he never defended Newt on Bloody Thursday week before the Florida vote though, this radical war on getting him off of the air is what we see now.
Ill pick up the frame this weekend...My Obama check will arrive Monday and I will pay you...Thanks for trusting in me
Women I would suppose although a man could be a slut as well.
Thanks for the alternatives.
I did a search and found a number of them.
Carbonite was not even listed in search.
I did check, It does not expire till June.
rsync. It's superb for offsite backups or to another machine in the same location since it uses an algorithm to only backup what's been changed since the last run. Here's a link to the manpage.
I use the term for men AND women who act in certain ways
It figures...
I recently suffered a catastrophic data loss on my music computer through my own stupidity. Over the last month I’d been looking into using Carbonite in addition to the now 2 additional HDs I clone to.
Trust me, reauthorizing music software is a whole different mess than normal. All the companies have different copy protection/dongle etc schemes, ..just a mess.
Well, guess I look for other offsite/secure options because this is BS. Those companies were not blind to Rush and what he does/says. They reaped the ad rewards and bailed at the first hint of trouble. I hope his ‘confiscatory ad rates’ morph to ‘punitive’ when they come crawling back. And they will.
Bottom line: Rush made an un-PC but totally and dictionary accurate assertion. Anyone claiming that a woman requiring 3K in birth control for “f-buddy’ sex isn’t a slut, works for the Ministry of Truth.
Not sure people realize - not all ads air in all markets. I think there is a regional hierarchy. The smaller markets dont sell as much ad time.
Im fairly certain I wont be hearing about a NYC Lawyer’s services in po’dunk South Central, PA.
The local FM station that carries Rush has almost no local advertising at all - (I think that’s why we get so many of the parody ads during EIB) - Just the boilerplate sponsors (Carbonite...etc...)
Screw Carbon Blight
There are all sorts of back up systems to use. Mozy is one. Norton and Mcaffee also market theirs.
Personally, I don’t back up that way any more. The best way is to by a memory stick or two and copy all your files to the sticks. You control those forever. If you are really paranoid burn a cd with your important files too.
N
Conservatives should in turn threaten to boycott the businesses that have pulled out or are thinking of pulling out their ads from RL ‘s show.
The liberals are able to say any vicious, vulger name they want to and NOBODY stops them, and it's not just one of them, its the whole gaggle. .
“The companies decisions come on the heels of Limbaugh calling a Georgetown University law student a prostitute and slut on his show Wednesday for testifying on Capitol Hill about womens access to contraception.”
For testifying?? I don’t think it was “for testifying” that he called her a prostitute and slut.
Now you stop that.
I was all EXCITED and you went and threw some logic in.
Sheesh.
:)
Well, that certainly makes little sense since the functioning premise of his show is to criticize the opposing political party, in whole or in part.
Odd world we live in now...
Are you SIRIUS?
Well, when you sell mattresses you can't afford to alienate the slut demographic, you know!
Was going to use Carbonite but no more.
Same for buying two Sleep Comfort pillows. We were going there today but not any longer.
Quicken Loans. FRers warn against using them on a good day.
Legal Zoom. Was going to use them for a new will. Now will do it myself (I’m a paralegal as is my daughter). You can get legal forms from your state.
Pro-Flowers. WIll go to local florists who don’t use them, or pick my neighbors’ flowers. They’ve got a good crop right now. Mine come in later.
Time that we struck back and let these companies know that we are initiating a counterboycott.
According to a recent Twitter feed, Carbonite’s facebook page is ON FIRE right now. ...:)
Does anyone know what other shows, media that Carbonite advertises on?I I know, without even looking, that we will find countless other left wing venues that have not drawn even a peep from these hypocrites. They won’t be getting my money.
Tales of Rush starving or become destitute are greatly exaggerated..
He could live in extreme luxury for several lifetimes..
To: TigersEyeDid a check check around on MyPCBackup. Im a little wary from some of what I found.
Sorry. Thought it might be useful.
Screw these intolerant fukcs
Rush already caved. Sorry to tell you that. I was disappointed, too.
Carbonite is awesome. I’ve used them for years. I am sorry to see this.
I just sent a msg to Carbonite, via their help window, advising that I will not renew.
I hope their balls are on fire.
Let’s keep up the onslaught against these cowardly businesses.
Good point someone made in that the protestors probably don’t or won’t use the products of those they have asked to boycott Rush.
We have cash, or so the rich liberals claim. Time for us to show some muscle out in the free market.
The best commercial beds are made by a conservative Christian co in Orange County, CA — Custom Comfort. They are so excellent and so very comfortable that I never go to the showroom, I order beds over the phone, sight unseen. They tell me to come in and try the bed but I know I don’t need to. After hotels I can’t wait to come home to my bed.
I don’t know if they are national. But they used to advertise on radio in SoCal.
I've used Norton Ghost for years and have never had a problem. It's automatic and it really works.
I guess you could say it's risky because I use a local HD to backup to, but what are the odds of both crashing at once? I guess a fire or tornado might get me, but It hasn't happened in over 15 years. I have just restored C: when things get so messed up I can't get by and it takes about 30 minutes for about 40 gigs of stuff. If I use my USB drive, maybe 45 to an hour cause it's slower. A WD USB 1 terabyte drive runs less than $100 most places. They have solid state USB 3.0 drives now that will hold my stuff for about the same price, just not 1 terabyte.
I divide my main drive in 2 parts and just make C: big enough for my OS and a few programs. The data is usually kept elsewhere on D:,E:,F:, ect. Get a virus and restore C: in minutes. When I install my OS and programs, I make am image then totally clean and keep it somewhere. If I get a virus I can use the totally clean image or go back a few days to get rid of it. If I loose something mechanical, I can do the same if I have the image somewhere besides my main drive.
I never understood Mosy or Carbonite because, if I understand correctly, you have to format C:, install the OS and then restore the image online. I'm sure Ghost is faster using the boot disk. Also, if you have a virus or malware, doesn't it get stored with your data so you would just reinstall the virus?
I would think the Carbonite/EIB demographic is only a tiny, tiny part of their business. Good niche point of sale - but nothing that is make or break.
Seriously. No person should be paying for another person to engage in sex. No one has the right to free sex. Next she will tell is we have to pay for her lingerie and toys too.
Me too, plus advising them that I would do all I possibly could to dissuade others from using their fair-weather-friend services.
PS: Don’t use Carbonite, Sleep Comfort, LegalZoom, etc.
anyone know the price for a 30 second spot?
Isnt a bit hypocritical of EIB to be pimping a known MoveOn, liberal, Boston based, corporation?
Surprised more folks are PO’ed about that...
Carbonite advertises on all the conservative shows on my Fox network.
