True to a primary season already marked by sudden and surprising ups and downs, Mitt Romney has jumped back into the lead in Michigan’s Republican Primary race. The vote’s on Tuesday.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters in Michigan shows Romney with 40% of the vote and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum with 34%. The poll was conducted on Thursday night, following the last scheduled debate among the GOP candidates. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Isn't Michigan an open primary state? It's my understanding that the Dems have got all the UAW thugs lined up to play Chaos in the Republican primary. I don't know if we can draw ANY conclusion from Michigan.

It’s rare when I totally agree with a poster’s every word, so I will defer. I think Santorum tends toward a holier than Thou preachy style, that’s a turn on for some and a turn off for some. I also think he sometimes aims his Catholicism at his mentor, Catholic convert, Newt Gingrich, and I find that very tacky.

Every candidate is pro-life, save for the abortionist pig, Romney, and Newt Gingrich was the first to bring the issue of Obama’s attack on the Catholic Church and Freedom to light during one of the debates, so let’s not pretend that social issues are the exclusive realm of Rick Santorum.

Like most other issues, from Afghanistan and obama’s apology, Newt Gingrich is responsible for first bringing them to light.

He is the candidate with solid well-thought out solutions.
,
I think that’s Apollo5600’s point, but I don’t expect him to agree with me 100% either.

“What a joke, Newt did no favors to Santorum. Just last week Newt insulted him and he was given a pass here. Fair is fair.

Newt sunk his own boat.”

You must be referring to that thread where Newt allegedly called Santorum an “amateur”, but upon reading the actual quote and article revealed he was referring to Obama, and that the MSM lies, as usual.

You cannot demonstrate where Newt has ever been anything but gracious with the other candidates, except for Romney who frankly needs to be destroyed.

You understand me perfectly. I was starting to think that maybe I’m crazy, since everybody tells me I say things I’m pretty sure I didn’t say.

Imho, Santorum would be a weak president. I’ll stop there, because I may have to vote for him, and it may make sense for Newt to choose him as VP.

“attck Santorum’s issues if you want. What I have an issue is when Santorum-bashers call him “Saint Ricky”, “Sanctimonious”, “Slick Rick”, etc.”

To my credit, I believe I was the first one to use the name “Saint Rick” on this forum.

I agree with the fact Romney needs to be destroyed. What I see is that Newt screwed up trying to do it, smartest guy in the world as he is, and it backfired and hurt him more.

This is the kind of thing that Newt does. He isn’t always very wise.

I would vote for him or Santorum. What I see is that Newt and Rick have yet to deal Romney an effective deathblow.

Romney is still kicking and they are having trouble staying afloat.

Thank you. It was my privilege to serve this great Country for 11 years, even in my very small aviation Navy role. Bless our grunts.

You couldn't be more right. Even with Newt's baggage, he is a leader and produces results. He is one of the few politicians that talks the talk, and walks the walk. Didn't know our military is supporting him. Got stats?

BTW, Romney whines that Newt is a DC insider? I say good, because he is one of the few insiders who has the experience, the hardened fortitude, and the wisdom of history behind him, not to mention his solid beliefs in our system.

Newt knows what has gone wrong with this nation and is trying to let all know what is killing this wonderful experiment the Founding Fathers devised. Newt is trying to remind us that we ARE the, "shining city on the hill", like Reagan said.

WE NEED ONLY TO REDISCOVER OUR ROOTS OF THIS NATION, that changed the world for the better, and Newt believes that within his heart! Since 1787, our Constitutional principles have been the guiding light for all oppressed peoples throughout the world. Simple fact of history. No one ever talks about that (other than Newt) and how many nations have used our example to develop their own system of "government by the people".

If Newt does not get the nomination, then I think all is loss. Congress has given up their balance of power to the Executive branch and we will see the worse of bambi, or even Romney. I can foresee Mittens actually vetoing Congressional bills that downsize fedgov intrusion.

God bless you, sweet trisham and God bless Newt's steadfast patriot supporters!.

I hate these threads when divisive posters get us into arguments.

We all want Romney to LOSE Michigan!

Sheeesh!

But, "we" want Newt Gingrich to win the nomination and the White House!

Mark Levin + Newt Gingrich TIME!

It’s the people falling for it that are making me question the value of working hard for a candidate. I put a lot of effort in for Newt at the beginning and it paid off for a while. Then the TV commercials kicked in... Now he’s doing the same to Santorum in MI. Sigh.
