Think your government has more than enough on its hands? Geraldo Rivera wants it to do so much more.
On his new WABC radio show Friday, Rivera cited an incident that day involving a Brooklyn mother suspected of killing her 3-year-old daughter, saying this (audio clips after page break) --
I swear to God, you talk about sickos, you talk about sickos. You should need to have a license to have a child. You should be vetted. I think I can't stand these stories. I've covered so many of these toddler-torture murders. It's just something that is unbelievable.
Minutes later, Rivera enthused over the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, followed by his criticism of the agency as destined to become a haven for patronage hacks (audio) --
You know, I like the idea of consumer protection, this new agency, for example, but I can just see what's going to happen. You're going to have all the secretaries that campaigned for Obama in this administration or Bush in the last administration or Romney or Obama or whoever it's going to be going forward, they're all going to get those coveted jobs, they're going to be assistant secretary to the secretary of the deputy of the this and that, and it's all going to be our tax money. It used to be, when I was a younger man, I used to think, you know, you know, let's throw money at this problem, let's fix this problem. And it's just when see the way government operates, government can do no right, almost.
Still like the idea of this new agency? How about licensing parents while we're at it?
Later on Friday, Rivera appeared on "The O'Reilly Factor" and got into an argument with Bill O'Reilly over Casey Anthony, as described by Brian Maloney at the Radio Equalizer (h/t for YouTube audio clip) --
Within a period of less than 12 hours the King of All Media Hackery jumped on Bill O'Reilly for being much too critical of (insert your own descriptive language here) Casey Anthony, but then told radio listeners he advocates government licensing and "vetting" of all prospective parents in America.
In Geraldo Bizarro World, it's give Casey the benefit of the doubt while real mothers and fathers are guilty until proven innocent. Could anything be nuttier?
Rivera passing himself off as a conservative comes to mind.
First, we make journalists pass an IQ test, but with no disability payments when they are all found to be mentally disabled.

I just don’t get it — why why WHY do the leftists want to control peoples lives??? I don’t care what you do on your own time, I just want to be left alone! Why do they want to dictate every little damn thing?
Maybe geraldo is trying to get a gig with a chinese news station, seeing as how his ratings here are non-existent.

No-—the reason why we are in this discussion is because of government enabling evil behavior—welfare-rewarding evil people and evil behavior.....and allowing TV to glorify evil, dysfunctional behavior and destroying Shame. We removed obscenity laws which existed for almost 200 years when Virtue was acknowledge as being ESSENTIAL to freedom.
Virtuous people would not abuse children, yet we have allowed our schools to intentionally destroy Virtue-—that which all Founders KNEW was essential to a Republic.
We have allowed government schools to mass indoctrinate and remove morality from our children-—through curricula written by progressive/marxists/atheists to remove the idea of Right and Wrong-—and instill emotion over intellect (feel good, do it).
The Passions HAVE to be ruled by the intellect and that has to be taught in schools. We also have to teach knowledge and get Sex Ed OUT of schools-—it corrupts and destroys any meaning in the sex act and demeans human beings.
We removed morality from our legal system thanks to John Austin and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Morality and God has to be put back in our law—since our Natural Rights come from God and we need to hold people responsible for their choices and get government OUT of OUR LIVES.

Will they be taking applications for government inspectors to do the rounds, assessing the marriage suitability of, in particular, the supermodel demographic? (Which need extra scrutiny, given how their marriages usually turn out.)
The government will issue parent licenses. Well then, we can rest assured that evangelicals and conservatives will not be able to get them. The Bible is just a form of ‘hate-speech’. The licenses will be reserved for inter-generational love activists, same sex couples, and polyamorous families.

Aside from all flavors of megalomania, I believe there’s a large desire on the part of hard leftists to have cruel fun. In Cambodia when the Khmer Rogue had their day, authorities would point to a man over here and a woman over there, and instruct them to get married. They had a grand old time controlling other people. Then there’s all the labor camps Commies have had, they really got their jollies deciding who could go.
I am sure he wouldn’t feel much emotion at the carnage at an abortuary.
Geraldo should be licensed, as being a moron.
